Nancy McMinn Obituary

Nancy Francis McMinn, died peacefully with her family _at her side on Tuesday, January 9,2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born August 11, 1930 in Austin, Texas to John and Lillian Francis. She was married on August 30, 1951 to William A. McMinn, Jr. to whom she has been lovingly married for 55 years. She is survived by her husband, four children: her son William A. McMinn III and his wife Marie C. McMinn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her daughter Mary M. Ogden of Houston; her daughter Nancy M. Beasley and her husband Stephen C. BeaSley of Houston; and her daughter Patricia C. McMinn of Brookshire, Texas; five grandchildren: Michael McMinn, Christina Snyder, Tommy Ogden, Brad Beasley, and Kate Beasley; one great-grandchild: Sophia Snyder; two sisters: Mrs. Patricia Hodges of McKinney, Texas, and Mrs. JoAnn Ballentine and husband Bunk of Altamante Springs, Florida; two sister-in-Iaws; Ms. Caroline Murphy of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Sister Ma..'Y Magdalen of Jemez Springs, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. Nancy graduated from Austin High School in 1948 and attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee where she met her husband Bill, who was a student at Vanderbilt University. During.their marriage; they lived in Houston, Boston, Yazoo City, Mississippi, New York, Philadelphia, and Austin. They have been residents of Houston since 1987. She was a devoted wife and mother; and has been a long-time volunteer and supporter of The Brookwood Community in Brookshire, Texas, where her daughter, Patricia, is a citizen. Nancy was always a woman of true elegance and poise, passion for learning, and love of family; and will be truly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to extend their special thanks to caregivers Carol Greer and Theresa Bertrand for their care and comforting touch in Nancy's final days. Memorial Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at the Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 17th, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas (713) 782-1710. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions in the name of Nancy Francis McMinn to The Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, Texas 77423 (281) 375-2100.

Nancy must have been a special person because those who loved her are special people. While her life was too short I am sure it was filled with warmth and caring.
