Patsy Foote Obituary

PATSY WALSH FOOTE passed away August 31, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. She was born on December 9, 1924 to Jay and Rachel Walsh in Fostoria, Ohio. She married Col. Philip B. Foote on January 3, 1947 in Colorado Springs. Wherever she went, Patsy made lifelong friends and added to her impressive collection of fine antiques. Patsy was a member of The Heritage Club, the Eighth Air Force Historical Society, and the American Legion #237 of Huntsville-Madison County in Alabama. Patsy moved to Greatwood Retirement and Assisted Living Facility in Sugar Land, Texas in 2004 in order to be near family while receiving cancer chemotherapy treatments. Patsy is survived by her son, Terence Walsh ("Herk") Foote, of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter, Bonnie Foote Lugosch and grandchildren Nicola Elise Lugosch, Leif Mariner Lugosch and Loren Peter Lugosch, of Sugar Land, Texas; and son-in-law Pierre Lugosch, of Sugar Land, Texas. Patsy will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband Phil. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the ASPCA the American Cancer Society, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, or a charity of your choice.

Patsy was a vital and enthusiastic member of the Redstone Arsenal Army Family Action Plan groups when I was a facilitator (and Army spouse) there. She and I became fast friends, and corresponded happily until she moved to TX. She gave me my first St. Bridget's cross, which I treasure. Her funny stories, energetic commitment to making things better for the younger generations, strong opinions, and zest for life will be fondly remembered and very, very much missed.

Herk, ironically, you were mentioned Tuesday night while Roy was visiting. He had included you as a "best friend" in a fifth grade "Life Story" school project that he was sharing with a friend. We wondered where you are. Roy would love to hear from you at [email protected]
