1927-2022
Paul Vernon Harmon passed away on Wednesday, the 13th of April 2022, at his home in Houston. He was born on the 19th of September 1927 on a farm in Champlain, New York, near the Canadian border, the son of Charles F. and Antoinette (Coache) Harmon. He lived with his family on farms in Goshen, Connecticut and Middletown, Connecticut before graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown and joining the Navy briefly near the end of World War II.
After a series of jobs in the Midwest and a brief stint in military counterintelligence, he came to Houston where he studied business at the University of Houston and then met and married Frances Pressly. After graduating from college, he worked for American Standard and Albert Sterling & Associates before starting his own business as a manufacturer's representative. Over the years, he represented a number of firms, most notably Chicago Faucets and Bobrick, and received many awards for his performance while cultivating business relationships he cherished for the rest of his life.
Paul and Frances enjoyed traveling, including trips to Europe and Asia, and going to movies on Friday nights. He also had a lifelong love of animals. In his later years, especially following Frances' passing in late 2020, Paul enjoyed watching Houston sports and Seinfeld reruns while continuing to work at his business.
The third of eleven children, Paul is predeceased by brothers, Charles, Donald, Douglas, James and Sidney, and sisters, Joyce Demmer, Muriel Handley and Nancy Harmon. He is survived by his children, Bill Harmon and Laura Harmon; and his sisters, Carolyn Looby and Denise Roberts.
His daughter Laura and son Bill would like to extend a special thanks to those who supported and cared for him in his final months.
The family celebrated his life during a private service.
