Paul Krieger Obituary

Paul E. Krieger
1942-2015
Paul E. Krieger, 73 died Saturday, June 6, 2015 of an aortic aneurism while on vacation with his wife in Creede, Colorado. Private memorial services will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Houston, Texas.
Paul Edward Krieger was born on March 30, 1942 to Martha Graham and Paul J. Krieger, and was raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania by his mother and step father, James Ralph. He graduated from Uniontown High School in 1960 where he played basketball and tuba in the marching band. Paul was an outstanding athlete, playing basketball for the University of Pittsburg (1961-1964) where he was a member of two post season tournament teams (1963 NCAA and 1964 NIT). He led the Panthers in rebounding during each of those two winning seasons.
Paul graduated from George Washington University Law School, 1971, LL.M. University of Maryland School of Law, 1968, LL.B. University of Pittsburgh, 1964, B.S. He also taught at University of Houston Law Center as an Adjunct Professor (Trademark and Trade Secret Law classes) from 1986-2015; China Jiliang University Law School as a Visiting Professor and in Hangzhou, P.R.C. (American Intellectual Property Law), in 2012 & 2013.
Paul had too many achievements in his long and illustrious career as a patent attorney to fully list while at JLSalazar Law Firm, Houston (Counsel); Morgan Lewis & Bockius, Houston (Partner); Fulbright & Jaworski, Houston (Partner, Worldwide IP Department Head); Pravel, Hewitt , Kimball & Krieger, Houston (Associate, Partner), and other notable firms. He leaves behind many good friends amongst his colleagues, clients and students. His family would like his work associates to know that he often expressed how privileged and humbled he felt to be so fortunate to have worked with so many brilliant and accomplished people, many of whom he considered good friends. Paul Krieger held close friends and family above all else.
He is survived by his loving wife and "true life partner", Marcia Boone Krieger, his two sons, Andrew Krieger and Tempe Krieger, his daughters in law, Jenifer Krieger and Cristi Daugherty, his seven grandchildren, Delaney, Catherine, Fiona, Carly, Andrew, Edie and Pippa, his step-grandson Phoenix, his step-children, Sam Goodner and Melanie Reyes, their spouses and seven children, his brother Richard Ralph, his sister Ann Vallozzi, and his best friend Joel Slomoff. Paul will be terribly missed, but it is with gratitude we who knew him reflect on how he touched our lives.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the Houston Grand Opera, an organization he enjoyed over many years.

I often think of my lifetime friend, neighbor and team mate from W. Pa. and then Texas. Can't believe it has been ten years [ Paul passed the same year as my only sister ]. All his old pals and gals will forever miss Paul and I pass along my best to his family members, especially as we approach Father's Day. Miles J. Cohen, J.D. Paul was my neighbor and one of my heroes. Dubbed the "rake" by Miles Cohen Paul was a gentle giant. Paul is surely missed by many.

To Marcia, Andrew and Tempe Krieger: I was a boyhood friend of Paul who grew up with him in the neighborhood called "Pea Ridge" in Uniontown, Pa. [ Home of the ORIGINAL Red Raiders ]. We were one year apart in age so I "mentored" him in B-ball as well at the Playgrounds. UHS and Pitt. We both went on to get Law Degrees as well. I think of Paul a lot, especially when I get back home to our beloved Chestnut Ridge Allegheny Mts. and drive down Oakland Ave. I loved that guy like a brother and only hope and pray for the best for ALL of you. You should all be proud of what you have all accomplished and may the Lord walk with all of you. Shalom, Miles J. Cohen, J.D. [Ret.], UHS'59, BBA Pitt'64

Dear Ann and family,
So sorry to come across this publication. Ann, you are the only one I have had contact with since Martha passed away. The last time I saw Paul was when our family visited in Uniontown many years ago when we were children. I did follow his accomplishments through my mother and Martha. He had a rich life and I know he is sadly missed.
With my deepest sympathy,
cousin Jean Price Robich
