Phyllis Benoit Obituary

Phyllis Ann Benoit
1940-2017
Ms. Phyllis Ann Benoit (Richard) passed away peacefully at Memorial Herman Southwest, in Houston Texas, on Monday, January 23rd 2017, at the age of 76.
Ms. Benoit is survived by her sons Stephen Vance Benoit and wife Donna, Bennett Andrew Benoit and wife Nicole, and daughter Maria Michelle Benoit, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ms. Benoit is preceded in death by her parents Murphy and Vivian Richard.
Ms. Benoit was born on August 24th, 1940 in Lafayette LA. After high school, Phyllis attended Cosmetology school and proudly graduated with honors in 1965. Doing hair was nothing new to Phyllis, she had been cutting hair and rolling perms from the time she was only 12 years old; and after a career spanning over more than 50 years, many of her clients became some of her closet friends. Being the eldest of 6 children, Phyllis knew her way around taking care of little ones, so when her own children were born, she took to the roll easily. She was extremely proud of her three children and would share her enthusiasm in their endeavors with all who would listen. Later, when she became "Nanna" life took on a whole new meaning and Phyllis managed to find even more energy and made certain she never missed an important event in their young lives; Nanna was always there. Phyllis was as feisty and as full of life as they come. She enjoyed each and every day to its fullest. Phyllis left us ALL much too soon. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home. A Rosary and Vigil Service will follow from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 27th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Laurence Catholic Church.

I am so Sorry to see this, have been looking for Phyllis for a couple of weeks and came upon this on Google, Phyllis was definitely one of a kind and was always good for making everyone around laugh, I first met her after an accident at Mardi Gras in New Orleans probably about 35 years ago, I went from Stafford to New Orleans and got her car for her and we have remained friends since. I Pray for Peace and Strength for her very Loved Family! Rest In Peace Phyllis, you will be MISSED!

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

To all her family I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have seen Phyllis every three or four months since the mid eighties. The great conversations, her kids, her parents and of course politics. We had fun times going out after hours also! Phyllis you are deeply missed.

I met Phyllis many years ago as a client at Albert Luiz, but came to know her as my friend. She was truly one of the kindest, most caring individuals I have ever known and I was shocked to hear of her passing. We always had great conversations about family and friends and she never failed to ask about my boys and my Mom. I will really miss her! Hugs to her family who she loved so much.

Steve, Ben, and Michelle, we have all lost a huge part of our lives. It still seems so unreal, but the coming days will bring reality that will be hard to get through. I will miss my strong big sister who could put you in your place, tell you exactly how to do it, wipe your tears, make you laugh, and talk on the phone for hours! Know how proud she was of each of you and how very much she loved you! Memories are all we have now, but if you listen to your heart you will still hear her whispering to you. Love you and know I am just a phone call away! Love you Tita. Pray for me until we meet again!

I am so happy I got to see and talk to her for Aunt Dots' funeral and she rode with me to see Rick and to the graveyard, so we had some time together, if she knew she was sick then, she never complained, she was such a strong person, rest now Phyllis, love you Bobbie

Phyllis, It's been nearly 15 years, many phone calls, a few heated political "discussions", a trip to the beach, fish tacos, several pink daiquiris, shopping trips, some tears, many more laughs, but most of all... not near enough time...not near enough time with a wonderful woman I had so easily grown to love. You were such a special blessing to me, my biggest ally and friend when I needed it the most. I will forever cherish our time together and you will always occupy a very special place in my heart. I could not have asked for a better mother-in-law! Thank you for your love and acceptance. Love you! -Nikie
