Rex Rowell Obituary

Rex L. Rowell
1933-2016
Texas A&M Corps of Cadets lost a brother this week. Rex L. Rowell, 82, born December 17, 1933 in Nacogdoches, Texas began his eternal life in Heaven Friday, August 5 2016.
He was one of 4 children each who preceded him in passing (Loechel, Bobby and Fred).
Rex had a loud, deep, soulful voice that will forever resound in the hearts of his loved ones left behind. He loved to use his voice as a cheerleader at Lee High School for three years before graduating in 1952.
Rex was an inspirational, strong, wisdom-filled leader who successfully built and sustained a chemical engineering firm, PCI, Inc., in Houston, TX. for over 25 years. He proudly spoke of his alma mater Texas A&M where he graduated class of 1956 as a Chemical Engineer, wearing his Aggie ring until the very end. Rex was an allegiant family man. He spoke of his wife, children, grand children, and great grand children proudly as he shared stories of each of them. He had a genuine love for creating smiles and laughter from all who surrounded him. Rex served as an officer in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Nuremburg, Germany for two years in the late 1950's. When he moved to Pearland in 1964, he was active in the community and church, as a school board member, deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Rex leaves behind his beloved wife Lee Rowell, sons Russell Rowell and wife Terri, Jeff Rowell and wife Kim, as well as his daughter Sherri DiFrancesco, three step daughters and their spouses, Lisa and Jim Di Carlo, Susan and Cameron Kreager, and Nancy and Charlie Turner. He also leaves behind nineteen grand children who he boasted over and spoiled endlessly who now have grown and blessed him further with eleven great grand children.
He was, and will remain a faithful steadfast servant of God who dedicated his life to Gods' word and inspired others in their walk with the Lord.
A funeral service will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home-Cemetery, Tuesday August 9, 2016, at 3:00 PM at 21620 Gulf Fwy. Webster, TX 77598.
His legacy of love and compassion for others, and his example of living life for Christ will forever remain in our hearts.

Rex was a cornerstone in my life. He hired me part-time in 1973, and I had no intention for ever working full-time at such a small company as PCI. But Rex taught me that an engineer's security lay in what he knew how to do, and not the size of the company. I joined as PCI's 4th engineer 6 months later, and never looked back. Working with Rex (and his VP Ben Malek) for the next 14 years formed who I am today as an engineer and a man. I will always be grateful for his tutelage as an engineer and his guidance as a counselor who truly cared for his employees.
