RICHARD H. WELSOME

RICHARD H. WELSOME, age 87, passed away on a beautiful autumn day, November 13, 2009 in Houston. Richard was born October 2, 1923, in Florence, Alabama, to Helen and Peter Welsome. He served in the U S Marine Corps, during WW II, at Guadalcanal. After the war, he married Jane M. Garity, who passed away in 1997. He was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. His hobbies included woodworking, traveling, reading, and was an avid history buff.Richard is survived by his daughters, Joan Wilson, Libby Johnson, Eileen Welsome-Martin and husband Jim; son, Patrick Welsome; 3 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was especially grateful to his niece, Cathie Hefner, for her excellent nursing skills and compassion, and Bob and Rosalinda Baylor for their enduring friendship.Please call Earthman Southwest Chapel for service information.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
