Robb Moses Obituary

Robb Edwin Moses
03/13/1940 - 03/04/2025
Thank You, Lord, for the life of Robb Edwin Moses, disciple of Jesus Christ, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother-- and faithful friend. He worked as a physician, medical professor and researcher. His hobbies included flying as pilot and flight instructor, woodworking, basketball, tennis, hunting, fishing, and family fun. He was a lifelong practicing Methodist, most recently at St. Luke's Methodist Church.
Robb was born March 13, 1940 to Velma and Edwin Moses in rural Cuba, New York. He grew up playing basketball, shoveling snow, and turning heavy rounds of cheddar at the family cheese factory. This small-town tall boy maximized his opportunities, not only being a basketball star at his high school, but also graduating valedictorian of his class, 1958.
Robb was awarded a New York Regents scholarship, and was also offered a full basketball scholarship to Syracuse University. But he chose to attend a small Christian college, Houghton. At Houghton, he met classmate Audrey Johnson, and they married their senior year at Christmas 1961.
He attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, then served residency in Hopkins' intensive Internal Medicine Osler Service. Robb's career took him to National Institutes of Health (NIH), Harvard Med, Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), Max Planck Institute Heidelberg, Oregon Health Sciences University, and then back to BCM. At each work location here and abroad, Robb made lifelong friends.
His departmental appointments at BCM over time included Biochemistry, Internal Medicine, Cell Biology, and Human and Medical Genetics. Robb was a Member of the American College of Emergency Medicine, with Boards in Medical Genetics, and was a Founding Member of the American College of Medical Genetics. He was funded continuously for over 40 years for research. As of January 2025, Robb was still researching, writing, and mentoring at BCM, delighting in his work and colleagues.
In March 2025, Robb's Heavenly Father received him home. Robb is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey; his son, Chris, with wife Beth and treasured grandchildren, Austin and Coraline; his daughter, Stephanie; and his siblings Marie Willer and Douglas Moses.
Family, friends, and colleagues valued Robb's integrity, intelligence, wit, medical and writing skills, strong sense of responsibility, and faithful dependability. He was always eager to participate, to help, and to fix. He was dearly loved and professionally respected. He will be sorely missed.

"Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations."
PSALM 100 (Robb's Scripture selection)

I met Dr. Moses when I joined MCB at Baylor College of Medicine in 2020. He was always so kind to me and everyone around him. I will miss his cheerful "Good morning" - always with a big smile. RIP, Dr. Moses.

Robb was a wonderful person whose regard I treasured. Our admin/faculty and teasing interaction was full of respect for him. His brief newsy emails since I retired will be missed.

I knew Robb in school. We were friends of a group and Robb used to pick on me, so I would give it right back to him. It was just in fun. and we would both laugh and go our way. Even when Robb would come home to Cuba for our class reunions,. and get together he always acknowledged me. He will be sorely missed at our class of 58 reunions.
