Robert "Bob" Ashton
1939-2018
Robert "Bob" Ashton, 79, passed away June 13th in Spring, Texas after battling cancer and other complications. Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 19, 1939 and grew up in Kingston, NY. He graduated in 1961 from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Upon graduation Bob went to work for Ingersoll Rand Corp. in Corning, New York transferring to Houston in 1971. In 1978 Bob went to work for Western Fabrication, a subsidiary of Tidewater Marine Inc. in Grand Junction, Colorado. He transferred back to Houston in 1981 and retired from Tidewater in 1994.
Bob invented and patented proprietary technology using it in a natural gas compression rental company he started in 1994 and ran until he sold it in 2004.
Bob's passions were the playing the guitar, restoration of antique boats and cars and enjoying beer with his family and friends.
Most of all Bob was a loving and giving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ashton; children, Holly Hurley and her husband Chris Hurley and Wendy Dill and her husband Tom Dill; stepchildren, Jennifer Thornton and her fiance m Burgess and Todd Thornton and his wife Kitty Thornton; grandchildren, Haley and Isabella Walker and Ashton and Heather Hurley. He is also survived by his first wife Patricia (Tanner) Ashton, his brother Ben Ashton and many close friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday June 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Addison Funeral Home.
