I did not have to go to the doctor much, thank God, but when I did Dr. Grayson was a great doctor to talk to. My entire family contacted some weird mites in our skin from working in the yard and were embarrassed about it. My husband and myself went in and he gave us enough medicine for the entire family without even seeing them. I appreciated his sense of humor and down to earth personality. I just found out that he had passed. Will see him tomorrow his time. With a heart for people that he had I know I will see him again. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Ellen, I just found out today that Dr. Grayson passed, and I was both shocked and saddened. I had known your husband since 1984. He was the best doctor, and one of the best men I have ever known. Our conversations were always interesting and far ranging. I considered him not just my doctor, but my friend. We also shared the same musical tastes. I cannot tell you how sorry I am. I will miss him dearly.

I was shocked to learn of Dr. Grayson's death to say the least. I am saddened that I only learned of this when I called to schedule my flight physical. My condolences to Ellen and his family, and while no pilot truly enjoys going through the physical, I always did enjoy meeting him and talking with him during this. It is a great loss to all of us in aviation and Houston area. I will miss him as we all will.

I was so sad and heartbroken to hear Dr. Grayson passed away. He was my doctor for 25 years. I also considered him a friend. He loved to talk about his children and music. Dr. Grayson was a Star in the truest sense. What could we do with our lives that is more important than helping people? That is what he spent his life doing. I am going to miss him. Sincerely, Brian Turner (or as he called me, Dr. Brianstine)

I'm deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Grayson's passing. I was a patient of his for so many years, and always found him to be such a logical and calming physician. I was always impressed with his intelligence, as it was apparent that he was well read in the latest medical topics. He always made me feel at ease and provided a sensible approach to addressing and treating any issues I had. My prayers are with his family and staff as his dry sense of humor and great skills as a doctor will truly be missed!

I am so so saddened to hear of Dr. Grayson's passing. He has been our family doctor since I was in middle school. He was such an inspiration to me and gave me valuable advice about going into medicine. He was indeed a multidisciplinary gifted healer. I will always remember him as my doctor in cowboy boots. Love and prayers to his family.

Our deepest condolences and sincerest prayers for Steve to Ellen and Mark and the rest of his family.
I first met Steve when my son and Mark played baseball together in Kingwood. He became my AME for over 30 years until I retired last year.
He always had a smile, a great sense of humor and a deep and genuine concern for his patients.
I will miss him immensely. This is a huge loss for our community and his second family ... all of the pilots who sought his counsel and his friendship.

So stunned and saddened to hear of Dr. Grayson's sudden passing, was at a loss for words. I was honored among many Aggies to answer "HERE" at Muster the other night for our fellow Aggie and friend. It was after moving to the area at an Aggie Muster that I first met Steve, and he became my AME and physician from then on. As a Flight Surgeon he had a very realistic sense of the flying world. And he cared a lot about his pilots. When he found out that I, one of HIS pilots, was in his office being treated by one of his colleagues, Steve quickly found a way to be there and check on me. Who looks forward to their flight physical every 6 months? But with Steve I could always look forward to having some enlightening conversation and walk out "fit to fly". I will miss him so much. Prayers for comfort and understanding to Ellen and sons. Ellen's wise council to our son, Barron, for acceptance to Rice U will always be remembered. You will be missed, Steve. Thanks for all your caring.

My family mourns the passing of a "one of a kind" doctor and dear friend. Dr. Grayson was cut from a different cookie cutter, one that puts his patients above all other no matter the day or time. He is sorely missed each and every day but our thoughts and prayers remain with Ellen, the boys, the extended family and all who love and miss our beloved "Dr. Grayson".

I had the Honor and Previledge of answering "Here!" When my ole' fish buddies name was called out at the April 21st Texas A&M Muster and Silver Taps. It made me cry. I remember meeting Steve our freshman or fish year in the Corps. He was loved by all of his fish buddies. I wish I could have taken him on a llama pack trip into Moubt Zirkle Wilderness here in colorful Colorado. Ellen - if there is ever anything you need do not hesitate to ask. As Steve used to always say: "Gig 'Em"

Sad news for the entire Houston avaiation community. I was saddened to hear of Dr. Grayson's passing. Dr. Grayson has been my AME since moving to Kingwood in 1999 and my personal doctor for the past year. Dr. Grayson would always take the time to listen, explain, discuss any and all questions and/or concerns. We have all lost a great AME, doctor, and man. He was a role model for even those of us not in the medical profession. Dr. Grayson's salute, accompanied with you're fit to fly, will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers to his family and staff.

Such sad news. To the Grayson Family I send prayers of comfort and peace and a sincere thank you for the opportunity to have had a physician like Dr Grayson touch and care for this family. Dr Grayson has treated myself and children (now adults) for over 30 years; through some good times - and got us through some really bad times too. Dr Grayson, Steve, Claire and Jeff have always cared for and guided us as the professionals they are - but as caring friends too. My heart breaks for our loss on this earth - but also my heart rejoices at heaven's gain in the beautiful and loving spirit of R. Stephen Grayson, MD.

So shocked and sad to hear of Steve's passing. To Ellen and the boys I cannot imagine your grief and I send out our prayers from my entire family.
Steve was my flight doc and friend since I left the Air Force and got a job with Southwest in the 90s. He treated me and my family and was instumental in getting my daughter's flight medical through when most said it could not be done. She is now a CFI in Austin and would not be pursuing her dreams if not for Steve's determination and knowledge. My son is also a flyer, and Steve's support and helpful advice were also key to getting him on track as he makes the push for his commercial rating. Unlike many pilots, I did not dread my flight physical because I could count on Steve to not only provide a caring environment but also an intelligent and humorous conversation about whatever was going on in our lives. He will be missed, and from me and my family my heart goes out to Ellen and all who were touched by this caring soul.

I was surprised and saddened to learn of Steves passing. He was my AME for the majority of my aviation career so I had the privilege of seeing him at least twice a year. Those visits always resulted in great conversation, not just about my health, but in trading stores and discussions of our lives and our adventures. You will be missed Steve but I know God is enjoying that twinkle in your eye and your quick wit even as we did.

Dr Grayson has been our family Physician since we moved here from Corpus in 1986.. He looked after all of us with true compassion. Every time I would see him we always spent more tme talking about life and family than what our problem was ..... I hope his practice stays intact and they can find a good MD to fill it out... Claire Trappey and Steve Stallings are really great not just PAs but great people as well ...
I want to extend our condolences to Steve's wife, children, grand kids and all the rest of his extended family...
May God have mercy on him and his family and give them comfort and solice as they deal with this enormous loss .

Dear Grayson Family, I am shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Grayson. For years he has been my physician and FAA medical examiner, always taking time to express his personal concerns for my health and well being. I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Grayson's passing. I asked him to become my doctor because I worked with him through the ER at Kingwood and trusted him. He took care of me and stepped up for my mother when I needed him too. I considered him a friend as well and I will miss him. He is the second great Aggie we have lost within the last year. The first was Dr. Red Duke and Steve's death is affecting me as much as Dr. Duke's (I worked with him daily for several years). Godspeed and take care.

Dr. Grayson was not only my doctor, he was a great family man and my friend. I have been going to Dr. Grayson for 30 years and he has never let me down. When I really needed him he was there. He was the only doctor I found that would listen to me. The first year I went to him was for my son. He had stress fractures from running Cross Country. The day after my visit to Dr. Grayson I had the answer in my mailbox. He had taken the time to research his running and he came up with air casts to use during training. My son went on the be part of the high school Cross Country Team. That was only one of the wonderful things that he did for our family. We always talked about our kids especially since my daughter and he were both in the Air Force. We are going to miss a great doctor, an amazing family man, and our friend. I know God will love having him on his team in heaven. May he rest in peace. I will miss him terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with you Ellen and your family.

Oh my, Heartbroken to hear of his passing. Know Warren and I will be praying for your family as I know he loved y'all deeply. He always tested my clinical knowledge of my 'drugs' as a rep, and was the one dr who motivated me to have a different perspective about the 'patient'. Years later when we moved back, I chose him as our primary doc because he supported his patients and made every effort to take time with those who needed it. He knew my hormones better than my Ob/Gyn! He was always the one who always called me back when I needed to call the answering service. May his memory, wit, and service live on

It was a real pleasure working with Dr. Grayson as a clinical pharmacist with his office. I remember one of my first blunders made working with him was met with an emailed fictitious humorous story about "the good doctor" starting a rumble at the courts and ending with him sipping a tropical drink in Bora Bora. This set precedence for the rest of my relationship with him. He was humble, approachable, and humorous. I will always remember his quirky and kind nature.
My heart goes out to Ellen and his family. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Dr. Grayson is a wonderful man and I feel grateful to have met and worked with him.

I know I feel more vulnerable now, you're not supposed to lose your rock-solid primary doc. Among many things that made Steve special, his unique humor and artful quips aside, was his talent for detailing a diagnosis and providing a down-to-earth, practical approach to treatment. He was never one to just throw a drug at the problem, and that approach lead me to refer many of my own patients to him for primary care. On a personal level, he would enlighten me with a Levon Helm story after he learned that Bob Dylan was from my hometown. Then on subsequent visits, I became one of three "famous" people from little Hibbing, Minnesota....Bob Dylan, Kevin McHale, and myself. And the jesting would run on. My very best to Ellen and the boys. May there be comfort in his great legacy.

Dr. Grayson will be missed by all of us pilots that went to him for years to renew our FAA medicals. I looked forward to seeing him and Ellen at the clinic. I will surely miss our conversations on how to get the Aggie football team back in the top ten and how things have changed at Aggieland and in the Air Force. So long to a great friend and doctor, and I pray that his family will be comforted knowing how many lives that Steve touched in such a special way.

Steve Grayson... Thank you for being my good friend and supporter while I was at Diagnostic Affiliates in Kingwood. I will always remember your kind heart, sharp sense of musical knowledge and our time "on the road" going to see Levon Helm and Colin Hay. This world was made better because of you and the small amount of time that I was able to spend with you in it will always be special to me. Ellen, I pray for serenity and peace for you... Your boys all have massive footprints to follow... You are all in my thoughts and I wish I could be there in person to tell you how much I cared for this great man... I will be blasting some Stewart Copeland in your honor, sir! Godspeed... You now know the great unknown...

It is with such sadness and shock that I am writing this today. Dr Grayson was my physicisian and "friend" for over 20 years. Always so concerned about my life and we would talk about his family (you) as well. My quick appts turned into 30 minute sessions of playing catch up with each others lives. Our dearest Doc G
True to his profession he did no harmand then went on to do great deeds. How many of us have quality lives and extended careers as a result of his thoughtfulness and guidance. Who compares as a repository of our trust. Amongst the finest of Airman Medical Examiners, he now soars with all the eagles he took care of.
To know Ellen and their sons is to know nurturing at its best. The doc fostered a long reach to another generation without ever losing a grasp of the past. He was a congregational hinge.
As a man and friend his movie lines enabled him to conduct a conversation like a director. A quote, a quip, the cleverest sense of humor. A congenial smile, the laughter of empathy. Doc could embellish the science of medicine with the arts of humanity and in the process give both heart and soul to his caring counsel.
He is missed greatly due to his large and deep footprint. When held in such esteem you are missed by many. May we all take what you have given us doc and continue to make the world a better place.
Our sincerest condolences,
Capt. Jim and Darlene, Katie and Jim Mundell

I can't echo the kinds words I've read enough. Dr. Grayson was my AME for the last 14 years and as other pilots have said, he was always looking out for our best interest. I have heard from many of my coworkers thru the years that he always had our best health in mind and championed our cause to maintain our livelihoods. I always appreciated his honest candor and taking the time to talk me while every room was filled including the waiting room. My thought and prayers are with you all in this difficult time and I will miss you Dr. G and your "fit to fly" salute every six month. Rest in Peace.

I have been seen by Doc for over 25 years. He was a man of many words of encouragement when it came to his knowledge and values of being in the medical field. He spoke to you not at you. Doc was a great man and my wife and I will forever miss him as our doctor and as a friend. God be with his family and comfort knowing he was respected by many. Richard and Lisa Jenkins

Robert & I are shocked and so saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Grayson. We chose Dr. Grayson as our Primary Care Physician when we moved to Kingwood 6+ years ago. We instantly fell in love with him for his unique sense of humor and direct to the point medical advice. Dr. Grayson was instrumental in helping us find the finest doctors when Robert was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer four years ago. He was honest and truthful to me in what I should expect on the journey and explained how I would be the one it would affect the most. He knew Robert would survive. Dr. Grayson texted me for updates on Robert's progress. I know it is because of Dr. Grayson and his advice in choosing specialists and surgeon that Robert is in remission. A beautiful family, our community and the medical community have lost a very special person. A wonderful person that will not be forgotten. We all have memories that will stay in our hearts and comfort us.
We send God's Blessings to his family. You are in our prayers.

From sneaking me in the back door of their first office so I wouldn't have to wait (thanks Ellen)...to sending a case of Gatorade to our daughter, Jill, when she was ill...to answering our phone calls in the middle of the night...we can't think of a more compassionate, knowledgeable, funny, caring, relaxed Dr., than Dr. Steve Grayson. Oh my how he will be missed. As our son, Ben, said when we told him Steve passed away on Easter..."Wow! Easter! A great day for Dr. Grayson!" Heaven is rejoicing!

My thoughts and prayers with Dr Grayson's family and staff. He has been my Dr for close to 30 years. I am greatly saddened by his passing and it was a privilege to have him as my doctor. He is simply irreplaceable.

We were a couple of Steve's first patients in Kingwood...his practice shared a small parking lot with my tiny art studio. When I went for an appointment and sat in the crowded waiting room, Ellen would call me back right away and I would tell her she just couldn't do that... so she and Steve would sneak me in the back door. Now that's customer service! We've never had a doctor who could put us at ease in a few seconds...give us a professional plan of action and then talk about our kids and theirs...or rock groups...or whatever. we felt like he and Ellen were friends, and we love them.
