Robin Reamer Obituary

Robin Barker Reamer
1962-2015
Robin Barker Reamer born September 19th 1962 - passed away May 12th 2015 from a long battle with cancer. Robin attended Victoria High School, Baylor University (B.A.), where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and the University of Houston (M.Ed.; Ph.D.). Robin worked at the University of Texas Heath Science Center, Texas Children's Hospital, and for many years in private practice at Reamer Pediatric Associates. She was the president of Houston Psychological Association.
Most importantly, she was a woman of great faith, who was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. She served as an elder, nursery volunteer, Sunday school teacher, confirmation leader, small group leader and served on numerous mission trips. She was a long time board member of The Nehemiah Center, an organization providing a safe haven for local children in the community, where she served in many capacities. She was an avid traveler and loved being adventurous. She was a loving wife and mother and is preceded in death by her father, Louis Barker. She is survived by her mother Jeanne Barker; husband, Scott Reamer; daughters: Lindy, Lexi and Lilli; siblings, Steven Barker (Mary Cay), Amy Woodall (Gregg) and Thomas Barker (Elise); mother and father in-law, Marilyn and Gene Reamer; sister and brother in-law, Lynne Endrody (Dave) and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our gratitude for the "friends of Robin" who graciously served Robin over the past five weeks.
A celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in the Grand Hall on Saturday, May 16th at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to The Nehemiah Center, 5015 Fannin St, Houston, TX 77004

A friend asked for a referral today and I told her how much I loved Robin. I was looking her up when I saw she had died. She fought so hard for my daughter when she was in grade school. She defended her and stood up for her to not be labeled. She excelled in school and is a Freshman at A&M. She learned some great life skills with Dr. Reamer. I will be forever grateful. My condolences to her family!!

Robin's reputation at Poe was 12 miles long. When I finally met her outside Ms. Gray's classroom in 2004, having heard her name attached to every kind of good thing going on there, I actually felt that I was in the presence of a celebrity. Of course, she was unfazed by my adulation. I quickly and correctly surmised that every hallway she graced reverberated with her praise. I have long admired her, always felt honored to run into her at HEB or help in some tiny way as she schlepped band meals at Lamar for the annual "Hauntcert," and so on. Ordinary days, normal routines. She will be missed. Robin was a good, good woman. I send my heartfelt sympathy to Lily, her sisters, and Scott, and to all the family and friends. from Ann and all of Wilson Miller's family.

So many of us knew Robin at Baylor and were lucky to be in her class and be her friend. She had a smile and a twinkle in her eyes that made everyone feel so special. We all had so many good times in Waco and were so proud of her later accomplishments, especially her family with our friend, Scott. It is beyond our ability to understand how and why something like this could happen. Our thoughts and prayers to the whole family.

Just heard of Dr. Reamer's passing and was completely shocked. Tears began to flow and I find it hard to keep my composure. Dr. Reamer was one of a kind. She touched my son and I in ways she probably didn't even realize. We will never forget her nor will there ever be another like her. She helped in so many ways and our son never felt as comfortable as he did with Dr. Reamer. She was given a gift and obviously helped and touched so many professionally and personally. There is a hole and an ache in our hearts. We will miss her so much. We pray for your family and for Robin.

Robin had a sparkle in her eye + huge warm hug in her heart for everyone . . . truly a glow to her presence that touched all those she met !!! A role model, inspiration + an incredible soul that will forever be remembered. When my 7 year old worked with Robin, she favored her sessions because Robin "had the best Barbie voice ever !!!" I will always smile at this sweet memory. Blessings, Love + Prayers to all of Robin's family during this time. I look forward to celebrating on Saturday this beautiful woman.
