Roland Massey Obituary

ROLAND LEE MASSEY, SR., 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on June 7, 2002. Roland, lovingly known as "PawPaw" to many, was born on August 2, 1920 in Houston, Texas. He was employed for 43 years with Reed Roller Bit & Tool Company and after retirement, worked part-time at Kaplan's-BenHur for 18 years. He proudly served his country during World War II with the U. S. Navy. Roland was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the Triple M Sunday School Class and the Sanctuary Choir. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mae Bell Massey; brother, C. J. "Bud" Massey and sisters, Thelma "ByBee" Renfro, Louise "NuNu" Musick and Margie Massey. Roland is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Elouise V. Massey; daughter, Pamela J. Massey; sons, Roland L. Massey, Jr. and his wife Kelly and Alan J. Massey and his wife Donna; Grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Christine and Amanda Massey and step-grandchildren, Trisha and Kimberley Tobbe; former daughter-in-law, Kim Massey; brother, Chester Bryan Massey and his wife Ruth and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends. Family will receive friends at Heights Funeral Home on Sunday, June 9, 2002 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 10, 2002 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ramsey and Rev. Mary Jane Van Dussen officiating. Graveside services to follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Choir Fund at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. Mario Gonzales and Dr. Manus O'Donnell and the dedicated staff of the Fondren 10th Floor CCU unit of Methodist Hospital for their devoted care of Roland.

Eloise, you may not know that Roland helped my late husband,Tom, get his first job in Houson at Reed Roller Bit in 1962. We have always been gratefully. I am Eugenia's daughter. My prayers are with all of you. Robbie
