Dear Scotty;
The news of Romes passing was a sad moment for us as it was when Lill passed away a few years ago. They were wonderful people and we were most fortunate to have them as friends and neighbors at our lake home in Aitkin, Minnesota. We did a lot of boat time together to say nothing of hours of debate over business issues and the state of the nation. They will be missed terribly but we take comfort in the knowledge Rome and Lill are back together again.
Sincerely,
Lee and Joan

Dear John, Susan, Dick and Grandchildren,
Bill and I want you to know we are thinking about you at this time. Oh what a great smile I remember on your Dad's face the last time I saw him. Houston was so very fortunate to have Mr. and Mrs. Arnoldy involved in the community. Bill and I are so lucky we got to meet our friend's parents who loved life and had fun with it.
Fondly, Susan Whitworth

Rome and Lil will be missed my many people--I knew them for a brief time, about nine years during the seventies and early eighties. They knew how to give a party and were very generous with there time. They loved people and I was one of the lucky ones to be taken into this group.

As far back as I remember Christmases, I remember spending afternoons of Dec25th with Rome and Lil Arnoldy and kids, etc. Our family would join them on Millbrook after our tree and breakfast, as we and other close friends blended together to celebrate our friendships, trials, and successes as well as our toys. It was in those times I learned to appreciate people like Rome and Lil, and how lucky we were to have 2-generation friendships which have been cherished between us all of these years. Rome was a true, loyal, sincere, and treasured friend to the Howeths'. There will probably be a party in Heaven this weekend, and Rome and Lil will be hosting it.

Dear Scott,
I admired your dad as I did my own dad and my two grandfathers who also left interesting heritages as entrepreneurs.
I remember taking him to baseball games at RiceU when the UMinn teams
came to Houston in the spring.
I remember him as a friend to an awful lot of people.
My sincere condolences and prayers as he enters the greater life.

Besides his obvious brilliance and great accomplishments, Rome Arnoldy was a fun guy. He loved a party so much that he probably invented them! Always the gracious host, he was full of detailed stories of his latest adventures. He did not save his inventing and experimenting just for the business world. He even applied those creative skills to such mundane things as soap. I remember the Christmas where he decided to make "Soaps of the World" by combining those little hotel soaps he had collected on his world travels, melt them down and recombine them in large bars. He was brave, too - as he did all this in Lil's kitchen!
I still have my soap, along with my "Intrepid" cap. Whenever I happen upon them, I smile. Rome will be missed, but he will love that family and friends will tell his stories for a very long time.
Sending comfort to Susan, Scotty and the rest of the family,
Debi
