Ronald Johns Obituary

RONALD O'NEAL JOHNS, 65, died on June 27, 2009. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Susan Wills Murphy Johns; his four children: Christopher Kelley Johns, Alexander William Potter Johns, Andrew Bogardus Johns, and Mary Helen Elizabeth Johns, all of Houston; his brother, William Potter Johns, of New York; and his uncle, William Maxwell Johns, of Dallas. Ron was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Percy Manton Johns, Jr. of Tulsa. He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Dixon Potter, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Percy Manton Johns, Sr., of Ardmore, Oklahoma. A member of an old Texas family, his great-grandfather was the Hon. C.C. Potter, an early Texas judge, whose family came to Texas from Georgia in 1852. His great-great-grandfather, Cincinnatus Potter, was a Captain in the Confederate Army who fought Comanche raiders on the Texas frontier during the Civil War. Ron graduated from Cornell University, where he received his B.S. and M.S. in chemical engineering, and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He began his professional life at Exxon Chemical and later started and managed several companies. Ron was the president of Symcon Global Technologies, an international software and engineering firm serving the energy industry. He was a member of Saint Martin's Episcopal Church, the Forest Club, and the Saint Nicholas Society of New York. Ron was an honorable, kind man who was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church this Wednesday, July 1st at 2:00 p.m. The family will host a reception at the church parish hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Martin's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.

Dear Susie,
I heard Ron's name called this morning in church and almost fell out of the pew. Please know that I will be praying for you and the children. If you need a buddy, for any reason, I want you to call me.

Dear Susie & children:

I just returned back to Houston and heard of Ron's passing. Ron and I worked together for many years. I especially enjoyed his sense of humor and his wry wit.

He will be greatly missed. I wish that I had hugged him the last time I saw him with you all at St. Martins. I am grateful that we did have a chance to talk.

Ron so dearly loved his wife and children. I know that you all will miss him deeply.

God bless you all,

Catherine & John Gonzales

Ron was a "one in a million" kind and decent man that I hold in the highest regard and respect.

He told me many times how lucky he was to be married to Susie and how he loved each of the children. We were all blessed to know him and have the deepest sympathy for the family.

Sincerely,
