Rose Shepherd Obituary

Rose Marie Moore Shepherd
1929-2015
Rose Marie (Moore) Shepherd, 85, left the bonds of Earth for a joyous reunion with departed loved ones and the full glory of her Savior's face on Saturday, March 7, 2015. She was born in Valley Center, KS to Dave Frank and Mary Bertie Moore on September 28, 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rev. William D. Shepherd, as well as her parents, five of her brothers and five sisters. She was a resident of Houston, TX since 1972.
Rose's passionate task in life was benevolence and ministering to needy people. She led benevolence efforts for over 30 years at her church in Houston. In September, 1998, she was honored by Northwest Assistance Ministries and Deborah Duncan of Channel 13 as "Woman of the Year" for social services in northwest Houston. She also served during the 1980s as the Houston Director of Operation Blessing, which provided food, books and clothing for school children. Her countless acts of kindness are far too many to tell and made her an "adoptive" mother and grandmother to many people.
As a teen Rose played the guitar and sang hymns with her brother in various churches and at radio stations in AR and MO. She served for 40 years in Sunday school along with her husband. She was active in Women's Ministries and girl's groups with the Assemblies of God, serving as the Houston Section Director over 31 churches. She was the Women's Ministries President at her church in New Orleans and also at Faith Assembly Church in Houston. She served in 1987 with her husband as Home Missionaries to Klukwan, Alaska.
Rose loved the Word of God, and read her Bible so much that it had to be recovered to preserve her notes over the years. She hosted regular Bible studies and prayer meetings in her home. She was widely known as a woman of compassion and intercessory prayer. Several baby girls of women she helped were named after her. Her prayers to be "the hand of the Lord extended" were truly answered.
Rose is survived by four daughters: Kathy Campbell (Kip), Deanna Bolbecker (Frank), Gayla Dunbar (Steve), and Sandra Copeland (Jesse Steven). She is survived by six grandchildren: David Campbell, Brian Campbell, Sarah Thomas, Eric Dunbar, Crystal Dunbar, and Samuel Copeland; seven great-grandchildren: Jon Alan Queen, Justin Campbell, Reagan Campbell, Avery Campbell, Braxton Campbell, Corinne Thomas and Hope Thomas; two great-great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Queen and Kaycee Queen. She is also survived by two brothers: Bob G. Moore of OK and Bill O. Moore of AR, plus many other beloved relatives and friends. Rose will be dearly remembered.
Her funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 14, at Faith Assembly Church, 7755 Fairbanks N. Houston Rd, Houston TX 77040. Visitation will also be held at the church from 6-8 pm on Friday, March 13, 2015. Interment will be at Woodlawn Garden of Memories.

I never knew Mrs. Shepherd. I just read her Life Tribute today. She was a remarkable woman as she and Mr. Shepherd loved and served the Lord. She is an example to us women to serve the Lord by serving others. God bless her family as they celebrate her "promotion" this week. Sincerely, Mrs. Diaz
