Roy Langerhans Obituary

ROY EVERET LANGERHANS, SR, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed from this life suddenly to be with the Lord on May 27, 2007 at his home in Sargent, Texas at the age of 70 years old. He had suffered from a number of illnesses over the past three years. Roy was born in Houston, Texas on September 26, 1936, the oldest of three children born to Jack and Aline ( Hayes) Langerhans. He graduated from Charles H. Milby High School, then attended The University of Texas and the University of Houston. Roy enlisted in the Marine Corps, proudly serving his country in the Cold War. Having been a "jarhead" was one of his proudest achievements. Obtaining the rank of Lance Corporal, Roy received an honorable discharge from The Reserves in 1963. Shortly after returning from California to Texas he met Gay Elaine Inglet and five days later on July 6, 1959 they married. Their marriage fell short just a little over a month of lasting 48 years. They were blessed with two children, Dawn Elaine and Roy Jr. Roy worked as a pre-teen and teenager, delivering and soliciting, for both The Houston Post and The Houston Chronicle newspapers. In 1959 after his discharge from the Marines, when returning to Texas, he made his career in advertising, working for The Houston Post for 17 years and in 1972 for The Houston Chronicle, working there until his retirement in 1994. In 1994, Roy and Gay, retired to their bay home on Caney Creek in Sargent, Texas near the Gulf Coast, where he hoped to spend his days fishing, boating and enjoying the balmy breezes. Roy is survived by his wife, Gay Elaine Langerhans; daughter, Dawn Elaine Baranowski and husband Steve of Cat Spring, Texas; son, Roy Everet Langerhans, Jr. of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Elaine Baranowski Perez and husband Vito of Katy, Texas; Daniel Lynn Baranowski of College Station, Texas; Brett Steven Baranowski of Cat Spring, Texas; Taalor Rae Langerhans of Houston, Texas and Christopher Lee Langerhans of Magnolia, Texas. Sisters, Joyce Camille Smith of Forest Park, Ohio and Sherry Lynn Swasta of Montgomery, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jack and Aline Langerhans. We know his pain and suffering has ended and he is with God and all who passed before him. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held Friday evening, June 1, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home. Evelyn Lupardis will be conducting Graveside Services on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Roy's name may be made to the charity of your choice. Testimonials can be left at on the funeral home website at www.cyfairfunerals.com.

It has been wonderful knowing Roy as a brother-in-law with the many happy memories we shared. He had a full and rewarding life with a very loving family. My sympathy and heartfelt thoughts go out to all members of his family, and I hope there will be comfort in knowing that Roy is now at peace and free from pain and suffering.
