Shea Whiting Obituary

Shea Whiting left this world and us on May 9, 2025. Born January 8, 1978 in Houston, he was the beloved son of Shivers 'Bo' Whiting and Everline 'Lena' Fomby Whiting III, who preceded him in death.
Shea became a talented athlete. In his senior year at Alief Elsik he was ranked the #2 basketball player in the state of Texas. Shea received a scholarship to University of Louisiana- Lafayette, where he majored in criminal justice. There, the team won several conference and tournament titles, along with winning an invitation to the NCAA Basketball champion games.
Shea had faith and belief in God and prayer; no matter what, he would see through to a better side. Over 6ft' 6in" tall, his heart was just as big. He found fulfillment when working with people with disabilities; compassionate and caring, he had an easy patience, a special understanding, and an encouraging way of helping them be their best.
Forever young at heart, with an infectious smile and a giving, humble and grateful spirit. his leaving has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and people who he met along the way.
He is survived by his children, Shea Whiting Jr., Nya Henry, Nashaylnn Whiting; grandchildren, Emma Whiting, Sevyn Whiting, and Khaza Hunter; brother Shivers 'Quad' Whiting IV; aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be held Friday, June 6, 2025, from 11am-12pm, with visitation from 10am-11am at Troy B. Smith Professional Services, 9013 Scott Street, Houston, Texas 77051.

It is with a broken heart that I read of the passing of Shea!
I worked with his mother there, Everline, back in mid 1970s, and learned of her passing some years ago.
I just ran across a thank-you card from his mom for a bassinet gift I gave her at a baby shower announcing his birth.
I am so broken and sorry for his loss.
May God guide and keep you all in His care!
