Shirley Bryan Obituary

Shirley Bryan
02/01/1933 - 06/29/2025
Shirley Wilson Bryan passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, surrounded by family and the music she loved. Born in Houston to Cecil and Erline Wilson, she was a proud Texan, devoted mother, and passionate world traveler, who explored over 50 countries across six continents.
A graduate of Lamar High School and Texas Christian University, Shirley married Richard R. (Dick) Bryan in 1955. Together, they lived in Texas and abroad, building lifelong friendships wherever they went. Shirley gave generously of her time, serving with the United Nations Association, Battle of Flowers Association, Assistance League, and many others. She was especially dedicated to mediation and case work through the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center and the Hope Center at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children Scott (Helen) Bryan and Shari Bryan, grandson Jeffrey (Julie) Bryan, six great-grandchildren, and many beloved extended family members.
A celebration of her life will be held at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Morningside Ministries Covenant Fund or the Hope Center at Alamo Heights UMC.

Shirley and I met through the Battle of Flowers. I thought the world of her. She was kind, friendly, and helpful. Her husband possessed instructions on how to best run a meeting, which she loaned me for my husband when he began to hold statewide meetings. She came to our lake house once, and I thoroughly enjoyed her. She was a special lady. Nancy G. West
