Shirley De Ney Obituary

SHIRLEY CLAIRE GENETEAU DE NEY, 73, passed away Friday, October 19, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Iris Geneteau, her brother Roberto Geneteau, and her husband, Wilbert L. Ney. She was a member of Eastern Star, IIE, and Soroptimist. She was born June 22, 1934 in Colon, Panama and resided in Canal Zone for 15 years with her husband and family. They retired in Houston, Texas in 1972. She later pursued her career in Nursing and holds a diploma from Prairie View Texas A&M. Her love of cultural anthropology and her ability to speak several languages endeared her to many friends from around the world. She always welcomed with open arms anyone in need. Her appreciation for music, dance, and life was enjoyed by many. She loved the "Pachanga!" She is survived by her daughter Renee Ney Ruiz; two granddaughters, Carla and Alexis Ruiz-Ney; and her son and his wife Wilbert L. Ney, Jr. and Ginger Simon Ney. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, November 3rd, 2007 at ten o'clock at St. Francis de Sales, 8200 Roos. A celebration of her life will follow at 8522 Carvel. In lieu of floral offerings, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
