Stephen Sulentic Obituary

Stephen Robert
Sulentic
1958-2018
Stephen Robert Sulentic, 60, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home in Houston, Texas after a 20-month battle with ALS. Steve was born in Omaha, NE on May 3, 1958 to Phyllis Ann Sulentic and Stephen John Sulentic. Steve had a deep devotion to God and rich faith, exemplified during his time as a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) for 7 years. He earned his B.A. summa cum laude from Saint Louis University and was also a graduate of Harvard Law School (JD) and the University of Michigan (MA). Steve was known for his numerous fascinating careers, including his time as a firefighter, lawyer, gym owner, teacher, bread baker, wall painter, school bus driver, hospital operating room manager, certified barista, door-to-door salesman, and many, many other callings. While serving as a firefighter, he received the Mount Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department's highest honor, the Medal of Valor, for going beyond the call of duty in rescuing a victim of a house fire. Steve loved going on road trips with his family and was an avid athlete and coach.
Steve is survived by his wife and best friend, Alison, and his two children, Rose and Gus. He is also survived by his siblings, Suzanne Heffron, Debra Zeien, Michael Sulentic, Gary Sulentic and Greg Sulentic and their spouses, his uncle Emil Sulentic and his aunt Dolores Fell, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister firefighters, and friends. The family invites you to join us for Steve's wake on December 27, 2018 at St. Thomas More Church, 10330 Hillcroft, Houston; visiting hours begin at 5:00 p.m. and then at 6:00 p.m. we will have an opportunity to share prayer and memories of Steve's glorious and adventurous life.
