Tony was always a close friend, and maybe the greatest musicians I every knew. We had a band together in the late 50's/early 60's, and he was always an inspiration to me and fellow musicians. I was with him back then, and was with him until the end. He is missed, but I know he is in a better place now.

Tony Campise was a wonderful musician and friend to our church, Riverbend Church in Austin, Texas. My family and I extend our condolences to his family and legions of friends and admirers. Rest in peace as you serenade the angels with your clarinet.

My love for jazz grew because of Tony's music when he was in Houston. He will be missed.
