TRACYE SELLERS Obituary

TRACYE FORD SELLERS, of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, the 26th of November 2009, at the age of 41.She was born on the 25th of August 1968, the first of two daughters to parents Mary Katherine Marron Ford and William Jaye Ford.Tracye was a proud graduate of Baylor University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Earlier in her professional career, Tracye worked in the retail, communications, and oil & gas industries; however her most rewarding profession became being Mommy to her three little girls and CEO of the Sellers' household. She touched so many people in both physical and emotional ways and left her stamp on society, living every day with a positive view to live life to the fullest. Tracye was known as a dynamic, loving, faithful source of energy, and throughout her journey she ministered to many people in her unique vivacious way. She was generous with her words, warm hugs, and the unconditional giving of herself. With boundless energy, passion and enthusiasm, Tracye dedicated her life to her vocation as wife, mother, and friend. Her dedication to service is evident in her numerous volunteering. Tracye was a proud parent and volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School where she was Yearbook Editor for 2 years and actively involved with the PTO. She served as Chair to Sheltering Arms for 2 years, Building Chair, Charity Ball Assistant Chair, Fly-in Chair, and Nominating Committee member.Tracye was a beautiful writer as evidenced by the blog she wrote of her cancer journey showing her thoughts on life, love, friendship, praise, thanksgiving, and other personal thoughts of a special woman.Tracye sponsored and participated in several highly successful National Bone Marrow registry drives. The results of these drives will no doubt save many unknown lives in the future yet another example of Tracye's legacy of caring for others. Those who loved her and others who barely knew her considered Tracye a role model in her battle against cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Douglas W. Sellers; her three beautiful daughters, Abigail, Julianne, and Anne Renee; her mother Mary K. Ford; her father William Jaye Ford, her sister Caroline Ford; and grandmother June Ford. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Stanley and Kathryn Sellers, her sister-in-law Kristi Baker and her husband Wick, Rebecca Crowell, her husband John, and their daughter Claire Crowell; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to her many wonderful doctors and nurses at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital.Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until nine o'clock in the evening on Monday, the 30th of November, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway in Houston, where a wake service is to commence at seven o'clock.A Mass of Christian Burial is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 1st of December, also at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where Fr. Doug,
I haven't seen you in years, but I just had to write to tell you how much Tracye's blog has touched my heart and my life these past few days as I have read about her journey. She was clearly a gift from God that touched more people in her too-short life than most of us can ever dream of in 10 lifetimes. You and the girls will be in my prayers. If you ever want to get away to Austin, my family would love to host your family.
Your fellow Accenture Aggie friend,
Layne

I hadn't seen or spoken with Tracye in years, but when we reconnected this past year, it was a wonderful honor. Tracye always had such a wonderful outlook on life, even when things seemed at their worst. She was put on this earth by our Glorious God to teach us all that life may not always be perfect, but to keep the faith and life will be good. Doug, I'm so very sorry for your loss and it breaks my heart to think of your precious little girls. I just keep telling myself that those girls, and yourself, now have one very special Guardian Angel to look over you always! I feel blessed to have known Tracye and called her my friend! God Bless You and Keep You!

November 30, 2009

Dear Doug and girls,
Tracye is no doubt in the arms of our Lord. She was a breath of fresh air. She was probably the most delightful person I've even known. Truly always full of delight. Always cheerful, friendly and chatty yet incredibly deep and spiritual, and in her final fight, she stoically carried her cross with grace and dignity. What an inspirational example of faith she was to all of us. How blessed we are to have known this amazing woman. Our hearts and prayers go out to her beloved family.
With deep condolences,

“Life is no brief candle. It is a splendid torch, which you hold for a moment. Make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.” In the words of George Bernard Shaw, Tracye torch was splendid and touched more people than we will ever know. She has passed that flame on to Doug, the girls, her family, and all who knew her to carry it forward in all we do in memory of her. She will be missed but always in our hearts. Our prayers, love, and friendship are extended to all those who love Tracye. God bless.

Dear Doug and girls, Please allow us to share and relieve your unbearable sadness today with love. Email sent Nov.16 c/o Doug, must get through now:
Dearest Tracye, You are with me in my thoughts more than you can know. Saturday night I missed your bubbly presence at the SVDP gala-auction. You would have dressed the theme and made it even more fun than it was, which was one of the best ever. Planning for BWS, another annual, I recall visiting last year with you about your presentations to the Junior League. When I commented about your strong positive gift to Houston women, you made little of it and complemented me.
As I try everyday to contribute and leave this world a better place, you inspire me! It takes mindfulness to add spark and spirit to all we do - you do that ALWAYS. I am sorry to hear that your battle with cancer is so difficult now. The hospital staff must be the lucky recipients of your wonderful spark and spirit even over the daily tasks of survival.
Please know that I miss you, pray for you and love you through the separation caused by infirmity. When will we see each other again? Whether it is in this world or the next, I will look forward to it!

We didn't know Tracye and her family personnally but frequently saw the entire family at church at St. Vincent de Paul. I met Tracye at the University Club gym more than a decade ago. We'd sit side by side and get ready for work each morning--every work day for three years--and she'd entertain me with funny stories about her family, friends, and how Doug just wouldn't pop the question. Well, he did pop the question, and I was overjoyed to be at the wedding...Over the years, I saw my dear friend evolve with graceful maturity and tremendous depth of character. She hit her stride as a wife, mother, and community leader, and we met up for lunch to chat about the joys of parenting. Then, I watched in humble admiration as she faced cancer with the highest amount of dignity, good humor, and courage.

My life has been forever changed by knowing this dynamic, compassionate woman who found good in most things and had a joke for just about everything else. Heaven's gain is our incredible loss, and I will never, ever forget her.

Doug, you and your girls are deeply loved by so many. God bless you during these darkest days, and may the memories of your precious wife start to slowly heal your heart. My prayers are with you, and I promise that you and the girls will never be forgotten by me, or my family.

Love always,
