Weston Miller Obituary

Weston Alan Miller
2002-2022
Weston Alan Miller was born on December 19, 2002 and passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022. The third of three Miller boys, Weston was adored by his older brothers, Austin and Marshall, who raced home each day from school to play with their younger brother. The brotherly bond between the three was wonderful, and a source of great joy for parents Cindy and Kendall Miller.
Weston graduated from The Regis School of the Sacred Heart and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, then followed his grandfather, father, and brothers to Texas A&M University, where he was an active member of the Phi Delta Gamma Fraternity. Weston was kind, considerate, compassionate, and caring. His keen emotional intelligence gave him a sensitivity and appreciation for all, especially an overlooked classmate or teammate. He loved Star Wars; annual family trips to Legoland; houseboating and wake boarding on Lake Travis; family cruises, including grandparents; family RV trips; Aggie sports; tailgating; baseball; soccer; and the color lime green. The latter two converged when Weston became a passionate supporter of the German soccer team, VfL Wolfsburg, for its lime-green 'W' logo, while wearing his signature lime-green crocs. A natural athlete himself, Weston raced down ski slopes at age four and loved playing soccer, especially as goalie, relishing his position as the last chance to save the score. As the primary goalie at Regis, Weston helped clinch the 8th Grade Championship with great celebration. In the ensuing years, suffering bad knees, Weston endured four knee surgeries with grace, grit, and style. Always the participant, he would not be sidelined, neither by a wheelchair or crutches. Most notable tales include his line-dancing on crutches at Austin's wedding and storming Kyle Field on crutches last fall when A&M defeated Alabama. Whoop!
Weston was a bright, resourceful young man with an engaging sense of humor. During a memorable horseback riding trip in Idaho with Dad, Weston became irritated when his horse refused to cross over a log. In great exasperation, Weston coined the horse a 'rental.' At age nine, the day before Halloween, Weston declared he wanted to dress up as a Tootsie Roll. Mom, worried his costume choice might generate teasing at school the next day, approached pick up with apprehension. When asked, Weston reported that an older boy had indeed questioned, "Why would you want to be a Tootsie Roll?" To Cindy's delight, Weston confidently replied, "Why would you NOT?" Weston continued to dress as a Tootsie Roll every Halloween through high school, buying larger costumes as he grew.
Although generally a quiet and gentle soul, Weston lived by a moral compass with high principles that were never compromised. When speaking, his words mattered. Weston often summarized a full conversation in one line. He enjoyed six years in the Boy Scouts of America and attained its highest level, Eagle Scout. The attributes of Eagle Scout defined Weston's character, inspiring his scout master to say of him, "Weston is who we seek to become when we imagine our best selves." A voracious reader, Weston was always with a book in hand, starting with Suzanne Collins' Gregor the Overlander, and the Star Wars and Harry Potter novels.
Weston is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Mary Catherine Miller. He is survived by his beloved parents, Cindy and Kendall Miller; brother Austin Miller and wife, Adri; brother Marshall Miller; maternal grandparents, Pat and Darlene Marshall; Aunt Claire Marshall; Uncle Bill Miller; Aunt Michelle Miller Shedd and husband, Cliff; Uncle Jim Miller and wife, Amy; and cousins: Will Miller; Whitney Kelley and husband, TJ; Travis Shedd; and Dan Shedd, wife Amber, and baby Samuel. Weston is also survived by his loyal Ragdoll cat, Leia, named in tribute to Princess Leia. Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family on Thursday evening, March 10th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Miller home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Strake Jesuit Parsley Center, with a reception immediately following. Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Miller, Marshall Miller, Alex Frugoni, Massimo Silvestri, Mason Wilson, Cooper Schicke, Will Adkins, Aidan Lynch, Pablo Pinilla, and Kyle Gaines. For those desiring, memorial contributions are requested in support of BEAR, Be A Resource, Houston, the organization where Weston volunteered during high school: P.O. I just discovered Weston's honor page today and wanted to again express our deepest condolences.
I was touched by the sentence "Weston often summarized a full conversation in one line". I never had the honor of meeting this beautiful young man, but I know his Dad. That sentence moves me. God's speed Weston.

Dearest Kendall, Cindy, Austin and Marshall,
My heart breaks for you. What a beautiful young man Weston is. Looking at his photo, one can feel his compassionate and gentle spirit. Kendall and Cindy, you were always such champions of the theatre/speech program during my time at Regis and that meant the world to me. Marshall, when I watched the service online, I hardly recognized you. What a fine, confident young man you have become. Austin, though I never taught you at Regis, it is very clear, through your eulogy, the deep love you have for your "buddy". Sweet Weston, rest in God's loving arms. Kendall, Cindy, Austin and Marshall, I send you love, peace and strength. Allison Marich

Dear Austin and Miller Family,

I wanted to offer my sincerest condolences for the loss of Weston. I remember visiting the Miller house in elementary school when Austin and I would play with Weston in the cul de sac. I remember Austin took great care of him and always included him in whatever we were doing.

It has been a long while since I have seen you Austin, but I wish you all the love and support you need throughout all of this. You were a great brother, and I pray that God bring you peace amidst this grief.

Much Love,
Stephen Sorrell

I didn't get to fully enjoy everything that Weston gave to me. We were in Boy Scouts together and we went on the British Virgin Island trip I remember the time that he dropped his phone in the water on the beach and he ran as the wind blows to the nearest restaurant to get rice. I was laughing so hard I have never seen someone so worried about their phone. I'll never forget you Weston
