William Bell Obituary

On August 31, 2004, WILLIAM H. BELL, JR., 71, departed this life after a lengthy battle with diabetes and kidney failure. In addition to serving his community in various social service positions, he was also an entrepreneur. W.H. Bell was the first African-American owner of a Dunkin Donuts franchise in Houston, Texas, which was located in Third Ward. He is preceded in death by his parents, William H. Bell, Sr. and Thelma O. Bell; as well as his loving wife of almost 40 years, Billie Jean Simmons Bell. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine M. Bell and Janet Bell Ricks (Fred Jr.), two grandsons, Freddie L. Ricks III and Jordan C. Ricks; and a host of other relatives and friends. At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. Body Entrusted To CARNES FUNERAL HOME Texas City, Texas
