William H. Bell Jr.

On August 31, 2004, WILLIAM H. BELL, JR., 71, departed this life after a lengthy battle with diabetes and kidney failure. In addition to serving his community in various social service positions, he was also an entrepreneur. W.H. Bell was the first African-American owner of a Dunkin Donuts franchise in Houston, Texas, which was located in Third Ward. He is preceded in death by his parents, William H. Bell, Sr. and Thelma O. Bell; as well as his loving wife of almost 40 years, Billie Jean Simmons Bell. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine M. Bell and Janet Bell Ricks (Fred Jr.), two grandsons, Freddie L.
