William Marion Edmondson, III
03/19/1947 - 07/06/2025
William Marion Edmondson III, lovingly known as "Bill" was born on the 19th of March 1947, in Dallas to William M. "Eddie" Edmondson Jr. and Marsha Strange Edmondson. He passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Tuesday, the 8th of July 2025.
Bill attended Kimball High School and North Texas State University. He began his career in the insurance industry with Continental Insurance in 1971 and spent the next fifty-six years building a remarkable legacy. Alongside his wife Becky, he founded Vintage Underwriters, where he served as both a leader and a mentor. Known for his integrity, insight, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Bill earned the respect and friendship of countless colleagues, employees, and clients throughout his career.
A devoted Houston Astros fan, Bill was a long-time season ticket holder who cheered faithfully from the stands. He was a certified Texas Master Naturalist who found joy in nature-whether gardening, fishing, or simply enjoying time outdoors at Jamaica Beach. Bill had a green thumb and could coax life from any plant. He was also an exceptional cook and gracious host who loved to gather friends and family around the table. No one ever left his home hungry-or thirsty.
Bill was passionate about travel and explored six continents, but his greatest adventures and deepest joys were always with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-six years, Rebecca "Becky" Rucker Edmondson; his children, Jennifer, Mark (Vanessa), James, and Julie; and his cherished grandchildren, Connor, Kylee, Elissa, and William. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas "Tom" (Carol) Edmondson, and nieces Jann and Jill.
A memorial service is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 19th of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following all will be invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Bill's memory to the Westbury Area Improvement Corporation (WAIC), 5322 W. Bellfort, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77035. Donations will support several projects that held special meaning to him, including the Westbury Community Garden, Levitt Pavilion Houston, and the Willow Waterhole.
