William (Bill) Wells McKee passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023 with family by his side.
He was 85 years old and living in Spring, Texas with his wife of 43 years, Milinda McKee.
Bill was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on May 23,1938 to Willam Wells McKee and Helen Priestly McKee. With a full academic scholarship, he attended Georgia Tech from 1956 to 1960 where he received his Civil Engineering degree.
In 1960 he started work at leading steel company Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, PA. In 1965, he began working for Allied Steel Fabricators in Chicago, Illinois. From there he took a job with Herrick Steel Corporation until 1979, where he was quickly promoted to President.
When he was in his early 40s, Bill retired for the first time and moved to Lake Tahoe. There he met and married the love of his life, Milinda McKee. Soon after, he decided to go back into the steel business. He served as President and CEO of PDM from 1987 to 2002, moving his family to Pennsylvania then The Woodlands, Texas, where the company was sold off.
He was charming, a straight shooter, and hilarious without trying to be. A true southern gentleman at his core who was very close with his family.
Bill is preceded in death by his father William, mother Helen, brother Daniel, and son-in-law Kevin. Bill is survived by his children William, Kate, Sean (Laury), Brian and Kristen (James), his 13 grandchildren, sister-in-law Diane McKee and nieces Helen and Katharine.
The funeral mass will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 28 at 10AM, located at 3901 S. Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands, TX. Please no flowers. The family asks that any donations made in his name be to a charity of your choice.
