William Urquhart Obituary

WILLIAM TIMMONS URQUHART, JR. 1929 - 2008 Funeral services for William Timmons "Tim" Urquhart, Jr. , 79, of Anderson, formerly of Navasota and Houston will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, in the Chapel of Houston National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 9677 Hwy 6, Navasota and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Tim died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at College Station Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1929 in Houston to William Timmons and Bessie Adelaide Wallace Urquhart. He graduated from Lamar High School and attended the University of Houston, leaving early to join the U. S. Air Force where he served during the Korean War, having flown 85 combat missions. After his military career he became an airline pilot with Trans Texas Airlines, later called Texas International and ultimately Continental Airlines. He retired in 1981 and moved to Navasota where he and his wife Helen owned and ran The Castle, a bed and breakfast for 12 years. They retired again and moved to Anderson where Tim spent his remaining years fishing, raising cows and riding their ATV's on their ranch. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William T. Urquhart, III and a brother, Edward Henry Urquhart. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen Joan Urquhart of Anderson; a son, Glen Urquhart and wife Lillian of Keller, Texas; a brother, Albert Barry Wallace of The Woodlands; 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Ryan, Brittany and William Thomas Urquhart and 3 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Olivia and Emmalea Urquhart. For those that desire, the family has requested memorials to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 414 E. McAlpline, Navasota, TX 77868 or The American Red Cross, Hurricane Ike Relief Fund.
