W.N. Plamondon Obituary

W. N. BILL PLAMONDON, JR. 81 of Spring Lake Heights and Houston, TX died Sat. Jan. 21, 2006 at Jersey Shore Univ. Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Chicago, IL Bill lived in Short Hills, NJ before moving to Houston, TX 34 years ago, and living in Spring Lake Heights for the past 8 years. He graduated from Yale University with a bachelor's Degree in Engineering, and received his Maters Degree in Management Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Bill served in the US Navy during World War II. He worked in Sales & Marketing for Marine Drilling, Houston, TX. He initially worked for California-Texas Oil Company, New York City, as a materials engineer, and then he worked for Continental-Emsco Company, Houston, TX. He initiated the first offshore rig locator which was distributed to Contractors and international oil companies. He was also the Vice President for Sales and Marketing for Various offshore drilling companies such as; Dixilyn-Field Drilling Co., Zapata Offshore Co., Global Marine Drilling Co., Houston Offshore Inc. More recently Bill worked as a consultant for Burlington Resources where he assisted in marketing excess time on 2 floating drilling units more involved in the deepwater market. He was a member of the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE), International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Houston Chapter. He was also a member of NOMADS (National Oil Equipment Drilling where he was the past president, and he was also a member of the Petroleum Club of Houston. Bill was also a free lance writer for the past two years. Surviving is his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Heller Plamondon, 3 sons William N. Plamondon III of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jeff Plamondon of Princeton, NJ, Mark H. Plamondon of Blue Bell, PA, and 1 daughter Donna Scully of Wyncote, PA. Also surviving is his brother Peter H. Plamondon of Germantown, MD, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visiting will be Tues. from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wed. 9:30 am at St. Mark's Church, Sea Girt, NJ followed by committal in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Holy Name Retreat Center 430 Bunker Hill Road Houston, TX 77024 or to Passionist Monastery 5700 North Harlem Ave. Chicago, IL 60631.

From all of us at Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center, we wish to extend to you our condolences at the loss of Bill. Know that we will keep him in our prayers. He was very much remembered here at Holy Name.



I know when my mom lost my dad; it was very difficult for her and for us kids. Know that all of us here will keep you and the family in our prayers in a special way, and that I celebrated Mass in memory of Bill and your family on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at our Passionist Community Liturgy.

Bill was definitely a wonderful man. I will always remember when he told me that I would "never make it this business with these prices". He later retracted that statement. That started a fantastic friendship and annual New Year's Eve gathering with his wife at Lynn's. Many wonderful memories of a special man. Our condolences to the family.
