Two Rivers - Alfred J. Behrendt, age 95, a resident of Atrium Post Acute Care of Two Rivers, died Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018, at Atrium.

Alfred was born on March 8, 1923, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Ernest and Emma (Glandt) Behrendt. He attended St. Luke's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1941. Al married Lois Gates on June 7, 1947,

in Two Rivers. Al and Lois were born on the same date, one year apart (Al was one year older). She preceded him in death on February 11, 1972. On May 5, 1973, Al married Florence Mach Langer, in Two Rivers, she preceded him in death on August 8, 1994. Al proudly served in the U.S. Army from December 29, 1942 until his honorable discharge on February 6, 1946. He was a gunnery in the European Theatre during World War II. He was employed at Hamilton Mfg. Co. for 47 years, retiring as a lead inspector. Al enjoyed working in his yard, waxing and cleaning his cars, fishing, bingo and the old sheephead card club. He liked going to the casino, which included going to Las Vegas a few times and was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. Al participated in one of the first Old Glory Honor Flights with his longtime friend Buddy Christoffel.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law: Chris and Nancy Behrendt of Brussels, and their children, Jessica (Dave) Schroeder, Christopher (Laura) Behrendt and Samantha Pinchard (special friend, Anthony Meyer); two daughters and sons-in-law: Debra and Guy Rohde of Denmark and Joni and Bob Gandee of Greenville and their children, Jennifer (Chad) Watters, Jill (Nick) Dodson, Julie (Jacob) Sandberg, Jacqueline (Jordan) Leitsch and Bobby Gandee Jr. (special friend, Maddie Horn) and 13 great grandchildren. He is further survived by Florence's children: Jane Langer, Nancy (Gary) Brandt, Sue (Steve) Beranek and Gary (Kay) Langer and their families. In addition to his parents and both of his wives, he was also preceded in death by four brothers: Christian, Clement, Arthur and Norman.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Maurice Mmegbuadimma with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military honors will be accorded immediately following the Mass by members of American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Monday evening visitation.
