Schmidt, Debra L. (Henzell)

Debra L (Henzell) Schmidt, 53, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 4, 2013, at home in Virginia Beach after a 3 month battle with cancer. Debra was born July 12, 1960, daughter of Elaine and the late Jerold Henzell. She attended Two Rivers Washington High School. On Jan. 27, 1995, she married Jeffrey Schmidt in Millington, TN. She had worked in various positions in the restaurant food service industry for almost 30 years. She loved reading, crocheting, camping, cooking, traveling, her pets, and making her plant patio garden anywhere we were stationed. She always gave of herself to make other people happy.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Jeff, Virginia Beach; her son, Christopher Isherwood and close friend, Vanessa, Manitowoc; her mother, Elaine Henzell, Two Rivers; her sister, Teresa Kozlowski, Two Rivers; her brother-in-law, David Kozlowski; her father-in-law, Gerald Schmidt; her mother-in-law, Diane Schmidt; and special friends Cindy, Gunther and Elaine. Debra is further survived by an aunt, uncle, 2 nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerold Henzell.

According to her wishes, cremation will take place and interment of her remains will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park & Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy 310, on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at 10:30am.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the physicians and nurses of the Sentara Norfolk and Virginia Beach General Hospitals, Naval Hospital Portsmouth Radiology Department, and MEDI Home Care and Hospice for their care and compassion for Debra and her family.
