Robert W. Gaedke, 88, formerly of rural New Holstein died Saturday morning November 30, 2013 at Willowdale Nursing and Rehab Center where he had been a resident the past 5 years. He was born on April 22, 1925 in Manitowoc, son of the late Edward & Mildred (Scott) Gaedke. Bob attended schools in Manitowoc and was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He furthered his education at U.W. Oshkosh and graduated with a degree in teaching. Bob was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving with the Sea-bees during WWII in the Philippines.

On November 6, 1946 he was united in marriage to Eunice Bauer at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. Eunice preceded him in death on June 4, 1998.

Bob spent his working years as a teacher and a farmer. He served schools in Milwaukee and West Bend until his retirement in 1968. He later moved to New Holstein where he became a full time farmer.

He was a member of Kiel VFW Post #6707 and was also a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. He enjoyed listening to Polka music and especially enjoyed going to Sunday afternoon polka dances.

Survivors include his children; Bill (Charlyn) Gaedke, Steve (Roxanne) Gaedke, Marcia Kolb, Bruce (Theresa) Gaedke, Brian Gaedke, Joe (Lana) Gaedke. He is further survived by 11 grandson, 13 great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and 2 brothers; Roland & Edward Gaedke.

Funeral services for Bob will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday December 4, 2013 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home 815 6th St. Kiel with Deacon Pat Knier officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00pm until the time of services. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
