Robert Zill Obituary

Zill Sr., Robert L.

Robert L. Zill Sr., age 61, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 27, 2016 with his family by his side.

Bob was born on February 10, 1955 in Manitowoc to LeRoy Zill and the late LaVerne Johnson Zill. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1973, and then went on to obtain his Bachelors Degree from University of Wisconsin - Madison as an Evans Scholar. Bob was a life-long, well respected salesman that travelled the world doing what he loved, ultimately starting his own firm, Zill Consulting LLC. Through his world travels, he made many lasting friendships - both business and personal. He was a brilliant, generous, loyal and strong individual. Bob held high family values and loved his children and grandchildren tremendously. Jeanne and Joy, Bob's sisters, were very close with their brother. A recent sibling London trip was such a gift. He respected his father Leroy, took him for breakfast and always called from all over the globe to check in on him. Bob enjoyed music and concerts, attending Badger games, but above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Bob had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Survivors include Bob's three children who he loved very much and would do anything for: Robert (Sadie) Zill Jr., Neenah; Jennifer (Adam) Dirkmann, Mishicot; Natasha Zill (Nick Meyer), Manitowoc; three grandchildren who were the light of his life: Harper, Nash, and recently-born Layla whom he was able to hold before he passed away; father: LeRoy Zill, Manitowoc; two sisters: Joy (Terry) Orth and Jeanne (Larry) Panosh, all of Manitowoc; nieces and nephews to include: Christopher (Jessica) Orth, Tiffani Orth (Grant Wabnitz), Brett and Amanda Panosh; also other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his mother whom he loved dearly, LaVerne.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield Street, Two Rivers. Rev. Kim Henning and Rev. Colie Bettivia will officiate with burial of Bob's cremated remains to take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be no visitation at the church on Friday prior to the memorial service. Cremation has taken place at Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Bob was a great father and grandpa, great son, great brother, great friend, great professional…a great man. His father commented that he learned something new from him everyday and was gifted with a tremendous memory.

To his family, my deepest condolences. Bob was an exceptional human being. He was kind, loving and supportive. I met him during a difficult time in my life, and his support, advice and confidence in me inspired me and gave me hope. I met him and had a chance for a short period to work with him. He touched me and my family very much. "You meet thousands of people, and none of them really touch you. And then you meet one person, and your life is changed forever." Bob was that person I will never forget. I told my children about him and said please remember this person and pass it on to your children and grand children. I hope that his memory lives for ever. Love you Bob.

Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family of Bob. He was a very kind hearted man, with the most infectious laugh. He had the best sense of humor. Words are never adequate in moments like these. We will say though, that our hearts go out to you, and we will always treasure the memories that we both shared with Bob. He was family to both of us here in Texas. We shared many a laugh when he came to visit here. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. R.I.P. our friend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Zill family. I am thankful and blessed to have known Bob. We became instant friends after our first business meeting. I trusted Bob and enjoyed his company. He shared his contacts and knowledge of the industry with me and I always felt he had my best interest at heart. My last visit to Manitowoc we had dinner at the Fat Seagull and I was able to meet one of his daughters and then went to his home to see his impressive Wisconsin Badger-Land set up. You will be missed my friend.

Bob, was one of the most honest, straight-spoken gentlemen I have ever known. Never afraid to speak his mind. Always in a professional sense, and always sensitive to the feelings of others, he rarely had a discouraging word. His amazing sense of humor seemed to consistently steer his ship, as well as everyone else's ship with whom he came in contact. It was that infectious humor, that positive perspective, "that voice", that never wavered when confronted with tough situations that kept a many a friend and colleague bathed in a sense of reality, yet insured that things would always get better.

Bob was great friend to me and to many others of his colleagues, ...always there to lend a hand, or a kind word of encouragement. He was also a fighter in the truest sense, ...one who would "never, ever give up" or give in to mortal aches and pains. Rather, he would fly off to yet another distant land as he purveyed his wares, and kept in touch with his many friends across the globe, while continuing to work as the World's ambassador.

Bob, I'm gonna miss you man. May the Lord Bless you and Keep you through your next journey, as he did in your first.

I was a co-worker with Bob at Hamilton Scientific and he was a wonderful person. Although I've only known him for few years I felt as if I'd known him for a lifetime. He always had a zest for life and made me feel very welcome as the new person coming into the company. My deepest sympathy and prayers are with the family of friends of this great man. So sorry to hear of his untimely passing. I worked with Bob at Eggers many years ago, and always could count on him to make me laugh and help me to deal with the stresses of the job. I remember his "Bobzilla" toy in his office.

To the children of Bob Zill:
As many experienced, Bob was a one of a kind person. I remember distinctly interviewing Bob when he joined Hamilton. From the day he set foot into the door he taught, entertained and made friends with everyone he interacted with. His sense of humor was unmatched. His professionalism and customer service attributes were enviable. His intelligence was admirable. I miss my friend immensely and am thankful for the conversations we had the last year. He loved you all dearly and wanted this last challenge to have been taken away from him. Cherish the many memories you have of this awesome man!
