David Paul Lawson, age 64, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021. David was born January 10, 1957 in Detroit , Michigan. David is survived by his wife of 34 years, Holly Henry Lawson; his son: Nathan Lawson; his daughter: Angeline Lawson; his sisters: Linda Lawson (Marshall) Fernholz, Nancy Lawson (Roger) Barbosa; and his brothers: Tom (Beth) Lawson, Chris (Leslie) Lawson. David was preceded in death by his parents: Edmund and Dolores Gierut Lawson; brother: Robert Lawson. David was in the 1975 graduating class of Seaholm High School, in Birmingham, Michigan. He went onto graduate in 1979 from The University of Michigan with an Engineering Degree. With his degree, he moved to Alabama in 1982 to work at Redstone Arsenal. He was hired by the Civil Service to work for the United States Army Missile Command. At the time of his passing he was proud Chief of the DARPA Programs, (New Technologies) Aviation and Missile Center, Redstone Arsenal. A visitation for David will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Moss-Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Avenue, N.W., Cullman, Alabama 35055. A funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. An interment will occur at Simcoe Methodist Cemetery, 4545 Alabama Highway 69 North, Cullman, AL 35058. A memorial visitation will occur Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, AL. A memorial mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Rev. Tim Pfander will be officiating all the services for David. The family requests everyone wear a mask and practices social distancing during this time.
