Anne Schonhardt Obituary

Boise - On a beautiful spring April day with her lilacs, dogwoods and lily of the valley in bloom, our beloved sweet Sister/Aunt Annie peacefully passed away at her home in Boise. She joined her husband Craig Schonhardt, mother (Lolly Barton Wyatt), father (David Barton) and countless angel relatives and friends.

Anne was born in Plattsburgh, New York in 1958. She was named after her Great Grandmother Annie, a sole first emigrant from Poland at the age of 16, and her Great Grandmother Margaret from Ireland. Annie took great pride in her name and that gave her great strength in dealing with life's challenges.

Anne was truly a Consummate Boisean, spending almost her entire life residing in East and South East Boise. She attended St Joseph's grade school and then Boise Public Schools, namely Roosevelt Elementary, East Junior High and Boise High. She left Boise to go to the University of Puget Sound. She loved her years there, especially her friends and experiences. In the "Tacoma Aroma" of Puget Sound, Anne began her life-long love of the ocean and scuba diving. Anne graduated from U.P.S with a degree in Physical Therapy and came back home. Being a physical therapist was a job/gift that she loved all her life.

Anne began her P.T. career at the first Elks Rehab Hospital in Boise. Fortuitously, it was there that she met her Craig. Anne then became an initial partner at St. Alphonsus Physical Therapy Institute. (S.A.P.T.I.) Anne moved on to First Choice Home Health. She loved this new part of her profession, meeting "older folks with wisdom" and their pets. This move was driven by Anne's dedicated care of her Mom, Dad, Craig and grandparents and of course, pets. Anne then spent her final working years as an independent home health P.T. She was the most requested PT for the Basque community. Anne was an "Adopted Basque." She supported, attended and loved the Basque events.

Daily crossword puzzles were routine and easy for Anne. She had an amazing memory. She could remember the lyrics to so many songs, names and interrelations of relatives, Idaho people, as well as dates of many life events.

Anne had many interests and loves. Her love of her nieces Kelly, Kate, Laura, Emily and Sarah was foremost. Likewise, Anne adopted, cared and loved so many dogs and cats. Of a number of sports that Annie participated in her life, there was no question she was most in her element while carving huge walls of water while slalom skiing behind her boat. As our Mom would say, "Anne skis with grace, on the mountain and on the water. "

Anne is survived by her brother Mike Barton, sister Mary Barton Rose, nieces, multiple cousins, in-laws and all those amazing dear friends who loved and cared for her. We will Celebrate Annie's beautiful life in September 2024. In lieu of flowers, Annie requested that any donations be made to the Idaho Humane Society.
