Barbara Clapp Obituary

Eagle - Our loving mother Barbara (Alworth) Clapp, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 7, 2024.

Barbara was born to Ruby and William "Bill" Griffiths on December 19, 1930 in Nampa, Idaho. She was the eldest of 5 children.

Barbara was raised in Emmett, ID, where she attended school and graduated from Emmett High in 1948. She married Gene Alworth in 1949 and 2 yrs later welcomed their first daughter, Deborah. They later moved to Bishop, CA, where they welcomed their second daughter, Danetta.

After leaving California, the family moved to Reno, NV. It was there Barbara began her career in bookkeeping working for Sears & Roebuck. Barb was remembered by many for her fun loving nature, quick wit and beauty.

The family then moved to Boise, Idaho, where she and Gene later parted ways.

Barbara continued working for Sears and later met and married Earl Clapp. Together they built a life filled with travel, great friends and a love for life and family. Barbara also worked for the City of Boise and eventually retired in 2000.

She volunteered her time at St. Luke's Hospital shortly after losing her husband Earl to heart failure. It was then that Barbara began caring for her mother Ruby until she passed in 2012 at the age of 99.

Barbara spent the next couple of years at Spring Creek Independent Living where she continued to make many friends. She lived her last 2 years at Foxtail Assisted Living. She enjoyed the staff and residents there very much!

Mom absolutely loved being a grandma and a GG! She adored her little dog Niko, loved her red "Hot Rod Granny" car. She never took life too seriously, loved a good party and could never have enough jewelry!! She was stylish, glamorous and beautiful both inside and out.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Deborah Shore of Seattle, Danetta Frost (Jere) of Eagle, step daughters Sandra Bowne (Nampa), Lynda Thomas (WA), grandchildren Jennifer Shore-Pritchett (WA), Brooke Blakeslee-Quinn (Eagle), step grandchildren Holley Spinazza, Stacey Jaime and Trevor Clapp, great grandchildren Ethan, Andrew, Nathaniel, Zaiden, Conner, Eva, Jasy, Frankie, Bowie and Ava

and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, step son Mark Clapp, grandsons Christopher Blakeslee and Bryan Frost, grandson in-law Carl Quinn, her brother Buddy, sister Dorothy, brother in-laws, Ray York and Art Gratton.

Her family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Foxtail Assisted Living in Eagle for the friendships and the care they provided.

I worked with Barbara at the City of Boise until 2000. She was a brilliant and classy lady! If Barbara said something was to be done a certain way...well it was done that way! I can still see her walking from the Accounting Department to the City Clerks Office with a determined look on her face and a smile.
My deepest sympathy to her family members at this time.

The best Grandma and GG in all the world. She was the best time at a party, always first to arrive and last to leave - making everyone laugh. She showed up to every single event in our lives, without fail- always supporting us. She was so funny and effortlessly beautiful and always glamorous.

I love her. I miss her. She was simply the best.
