Christine Borton Obituary

Meridian - Christine Louise Borton, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025. She leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that touched all who knew her. Born on December 22, 1940, in Astoria, Oregon, to parents Margaret and John Swint, Christine grew up along the coast of the Pacific Northwest. She described her childhood as happy and safe during a time when everyone made their own fun playing kick the can, marbles, and red rover. Her family enjoyed camping in the forests of Oregon and on the beaches of Seaside and Cannon Beach.

Christine met her husband Jim in 1959, while working at Industrial Electric Service Company in Arcadia, California. They married on New Year's Eve in 1960. During their 64 years of marriage they lived primarily in Boise, Idaho where they raised their three children: Cindy Bolton (husband Gregg), James Borton Jr., and Joe Borton (wife Sharon). Christine had many talents and enjoyed gardening, baking, making homemade jam and delicious salads, playing golf, and studying World War II history. She was an involved grandmother and loved her grandchildren so much. They will miss playing games and having lively debates with Grandma Chris.

Christine worked at Boise State University in the Kinesiology department for many years and was a fierce fan of the Broncos. She retired at age 70 and her dedication to BSU earned her meritorious status, which was a testament to her commitment to her employer and colleagues. She truly enjoyed working with and helping students who would often stop by just to visit with her at her desk. After retirement, she volunteered at the Meridian Canine Rescue and the Meridian Food Bank. Christine loved animals, especially dogs, and had several canine friends, the most recent being Brandi, a 140 pound Saint Bernard mix. Meridian's police department, and their furry K9 officers, were always close to her heart.

Christine is survived by her husband, Jim, and children James Borton Jr and Joe Borton (wife Sharon), her son-in-law Gregg Bolton, and her five grandchildren: Emma Borton, Jacob Bolton, Cena Bolton, Jack Borton (wife Lauren) and Michael Borton, as well as her two brothers Mike (Kay) Swint and Greg (Bronsa) Swint. She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and John Swint, her sister, Jeanne White, and her beloved daughter, Cyndi Bolton.

Services for Christine will be held at 10 AM on November 7, 2025, at the Idaho Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Meridian Police Canine Association in her name. Arrangements by Accent Funeral Home.
