Connie Rogers Obituary

Connie Rogers
January 18, 1917 - January 25, 2012
"The lord is with thee now and at the hour of our death"
Constance Catherine (Connie) Rogers was born in Sopris, CO. 0n January 18, 1917 and died peacefully in Las Vegas, NV on January 25, 2012 at the age of 95.
Born to loving parents, Luigi and Amedea Rose Corazza, who had emigrated from Treviso, Italy, entered the United States through Ellis Island, and moved to Sopris, CO. The family settled eventually in the coal mining town of Dawson, N. M. Connie, after losing her father at age 14, grew up with her mother and treasured six brothers.
Connie attended college in Las Cruces, N. M. She then worked as the secretary for the general manager of Barber Supermarket in Albuquerque, NM While living there she met Ralph K. Rogers, a machinist apprentice, from Idaho, who worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. Ralph and Connie married and traveled throughout the west before settling in Nampa, ID where Ralph worked for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Connie volunteered in the Nampa community. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and a long time member of CWL and St. Anne's Circle. She tracked 600 hours over 30 years in RSVP. She volunteered as a pink lady at Mercy Hospital, was a buyer for the gift shop, and was on an advisory board, granting scholarships for nurses. She was a member of NCOA and was a participant for many years in a research program on aging for women. She loved her extension club not only because they were crafty ladies but for the many friends she made. Nampa Senior Center, Terry Riley Health Clinic and "America Reads" were all part of her passions. She held elective positions in AARP and NCOA. She was a longtime volunteer for the Idaho Democratic Party, assisting in fund raising, and working endless hours on Election Day.
Her dear husband of 69 years, Ralph K. Rogers, preceded her in death in 2008. She is survived by her loving brother, Germano Corazza, her three children and their spouses, son Donald and Linda, daughter Diane and Gerald Duffy and daughter Gerianne and Jeff Waufle. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Terri, Darin, Tamara, Sean, Scott, Tony, Shane, Justine, and Jason. She had 16 great grandchildren, Kayla, Kristin, Paige, Shay, Ashley, Aaron, Tyler, Karina, Madison, Katie, Jack, Matthew, Allyson, Owen, Delaney, and Aiden.
Mother would like to thank her special friends, 'more than neighbors', Merlin, Lila and Greta Hanson. They join with many others in years of friendship and love.
Our Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, loved life. She always looked forward to the future, holding deep in her heart, memories of the past. Perhaps this is why her family looked up to her as an inspiration of what is to come, as life brings sorrows as well as unexpected joys.
We will forever love you Mom.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the St. Paul's Catholic Church. An online guest book may be signed at www.nampafuneralhome.com
