Dolly Parsons Young Obituary

Dolly passed away Oct. 12, 2010 at the age of 82, in Montpelier, at the Bear Lake Skilled Nursing Hospital. Dolly was born in Blackfoot, to Theodore F. Parsons and Marion Mabel Adams. She was the second of five children.
Dolly lived in Blackfoot and Idaho Falls, and American Fork, Utah while growing up. Dolly married her eternal sweetheart, Donald Norman Young, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS Temple on June 6, 1945. Together they had seven children, raising six to adulthood.
Don and Dolly lived on the family farm in Riverside, for a short while. They then moved to Challis where they ranched and had an outfitting and guide business for 23 years. Life was not always easy living without the modern conveniences of electricity and running water, but life granted them much love in the home.
Dolly buried her second daughter, Rebecca Ann, at the age of 6 months. In 1970 Dolly and Don moved with four of their children, all of their worldly possessions, and eight horses to Quesnel, British Colombia, Canada. There they homesteaded 360 acres of undeveloped land, void of all modern conveniences, living in a tent until they could build a home. For the next 10 years Dolly and Don resided in various places in British Colombia. In 1979 Dolly and Don moved to Colville, Wash., again developing bare land.
The recession of the 80s and lack of work made it necessary to move to the Marsing area near Givens Hot Springs. Again, they set into motion developing bare land into a warm and loving homestead. Don resided there until his death in 1986. Dolly continued to reside at the homestead until ill health took her to nursing homes in 1998.
Dolly loved to cook, can, crochet, craft, and dance. She loved Elvis Presley, snicker candy bars, camping and her family.
She was known for her gentle, loving compassion and her slow to anger character. She exhibited great faith and endurance in life's many trials even unto the end.
Dolly is preceded in death by her loving husband, Don; her parents, Theo and Marion Parsons; daughter Rebecca Ann, and granddaughters Sandee and Rachel.
Dolly is survived by her children, Nancy (Blaine) Sanderson, Lander, Wyo., Gary (Mary) Young, Ecuador, Jack (Corrine) Young, Melba, Cathy (Ron) Streibel, Marsing, Clay (Cammie), Nephi, Utah, and Toni (John) Post, Garden City, Utah; 31 grandchildren and 42 great-grand children, all living in Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Canada and Ecuador.
Dolly is also survived by her siblings Rosemarie Fulmer, Thea Jorgensen, Theodore Lorin Parsons and Leta Jones as well numerous nieces and nephews.
Dolly was courageous and strong with charity as her virtue, her first and last concerns of everyday, was that everyone was taken care of.
She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16in the Marsing LDS Chapel, 215 W. 3rd Ave., Marsing.
There will be a viewing from 2-2:45 p.m., at the church prior to services.
Interment will be at the Marsing Homedale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
