Boise - Donald Stanley Keim, age 97, was born in
Nampa, Idaho on August 8, 1927. He passed quietly at Grace Assisted Living of Boise to his heavenly home on November 6, 2024. The oldest of four children, he was born to Stanley and Pauline Shirk Keim. Don was preceded in death by his wife Ann, parents, and his sister Miriam Albright, (Ellis) all of Nampa. Don is survived by his three children, Beverly Tomao, (Tony) of California, Patricia Sierra (Gil) of South Bend, Indiana, and Dave Keim (Mary Puccio) of Meridian, Idaho, brother Colonel Kenneth Bryce Keim (current wife Priscilla and deceased wife, Vera Lake Keim) of Goodyear, Arizona, and sister Marilyn Anne DeBord, (Bob, deceased) of Payette, Idaho. Donald was much loved and will be missed by many family members in the Treasure Valley and beyond.
After graduating from Nampa High School in 1945, Don finished his Eagle Scout merits and achieved an accounting degree at McPherson College in Kansas. While there, he dated and upon graduation married the love of his life, Celestia Ann Oberst (passed in 2021), of McPherson, Kansas. The couple spent 70+ years loving life, God and family. Don was active in Nampa's Church of the Brethren, Camp Wilbur Stover, Modesto's Church of the Brethren, Kiwanis, Elks, and YMCA Indian Guides.
Don was a huge fan of tennis, playing bridge, fishing, family driving trips, Boise Little Theater, and even a little piano after taking a community college course. Don was known for his big sense of humor, logic, integrity, and business sense as both co-owner of Nampa's H.H. Keim, Co., Ltd. Meat Packing plant, started by grandfather H.H. Keim of Indiana, as well as a Realtor-broker in California. Don was an "idea man," an encourager of education for his family, a lover of telling stories, and he had a keen sense of caring for his children and grandchildren, which is evident in his generosity and kindness to them. Don lived life with a great attitude, often quipping proudly that he "still had his own hair and teeth", just weeks before his passing. Among his favorite speeches and jokes we can still hear him announce as we gathered at the dinner table: "Well, I bet you're all wondering why we called this meeting!"
