Eileen Marie Berkenbile

1941 - 2025

Richland, WA - Eileen Marie Berkenbile, formerly of Caldwell, Idaho passed away at her home in Richland, Washington on April 7, 2025. She was born on March 28, 1941 to Casper and Margaret Huennekens. In 1959, she graduated from Caldwell High School, later attending Boise Junior College before starting a career in accounting. She married Walt Berkenbile, living first in Boise and then moving to Caldwell after the birth of their first son, Michael. They would later welcome their second son, Mark. Eileen was a great mother and friend to her two children, in each she would instill the virtues of authenticity, perseverance, and humility. Eileen was a compassionate person who was known to open her home to provide a refuge for women in need. She found joy in laughter, traveling, gardening, spending time with her children and grandchildren. In 2019, Eileen relocated to Richland Washington where her children would care for her during a lengthy affliction with Alzheimer's disease.

Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and former husband and lifelong friend Walt. She is survived by her children, Mike (Robin) Berkenbile, Mark (Alison) Berkenbile, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on May 9th at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, Idaho.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the care staff at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy and Bonaventure Assisted Living of Richland for their services and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy in Eileen's name would be appreciated.
