Ernest Acree

1923 - 2011

In loving memory of Ernest M. Acree, born to Robert (Doug) and Nora Acree in Commanchie County, Okla., on April 22, 1923.
He was the oldest of four children. When he was two years old his family moved to Bowmont, Ida. When he was 6 years old they moved to Nampa, Ida. He started working at age nine as a farmhand. He later joined the Army and was deployed for WWII.
He fought in the Philippines from 1945 until 1946. After the war he returned home to help care for his mother and siblings. He started working at a local gas station.
He later met Vivian R. Swan in 1952, in Nampa. They purchased their first house and got married.
He later purchased the Mobile gas station.
In July of 1953 they had their first child, Ronald E. Acree, and about a year later had their daughter, Lois Acree Brooks.
He owned and operated Ernie's Subway Service in Nampa until the early 70s. After that he went to work for the city of Nampa, Kohlerlawn Cemetery, from which he retired.
He lost his wife to cancer in 1993.
He is survived by his two children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He loved motorcycles and spending quality time with family and loved ones. Toward the end, he loved working on his yard and spending quality time outdoors.
A memorial service will be held in Ernie's honor on Wednesday April 27, at 10:30 a.m., at Alsip and Persons Funeral Home, 404 10th Ave. South, Nampa.
