Gary Gerla Obituary

Parma - Gary Galen Gerla, 68, of Parma, passed away on September 12, 2024 surrounded by his children, several grandchildren and siblings.

Gary was one of seven children born to Daniel and Amy Gerla. He was born in Brewster, Washington and moved to the Boise area with his parents in 1962. He graduated from Capital High School in 1974. He married Beverly Murphy in 1975 and they had four children together - Travis (Stephanie), Daniel (Darla), Anna (Brent) and Lucas.

Gary was a talented woodworker. He spent most of his life in woodworking or construction, owning a construction company with his brother Mark for several years. He loved looking for arrowheads, visiting the ocean, fishing, hunting, and almost everything else outdoors. As his health declined the past few years he had to live vicariously through his children's adventures, always asking for pictures while they were on vacations. More than anything else he loved God, his children, and his 16 grandchildren. He has one great-grandson and was looking forward to the birth of his first great-granddaughter early next year.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and two of his grandchildren, Mason and Carstyn. He is survived by his six siblings, Portia Flynn (Layne), Mark Gerla (Fran), Cynthia Johnson (Ken), David Gerla (Cheryl), Kenneth Gerla, and Kyle' O'Neil, his four children and three of their spouses, fourteen grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Gary was a special person and had came along ways since we first met 19 years ago.
I´ll always remember our arrowhead days together and the places he took me to explore.
He is a special friend to me.
