Gayle Bilbao

Following a short illness, Gayle Slavin Carlson Bilbao passed away in the Salmon, Idaho hospital April 2, 2007, at the age of 77.
Gayle was born in Salmon to Ted and Leitha Slavin. She graduated from Salmon High School and attended the University of Idaho. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.
In 1950 she married Herb Carlson. They moved to Nampa, where they owned and operated a sporting goods store. They had three sons, Doug of North Fork, Scott (Sherri) of Seattle, Wash., and Kent of Salmon. Gayle and Herb were divorced and she went back to college at BSU. She met and married John bilbao, a bibliographer and professor of linguistic studies of Basque culture at the University of Nevada, Reno. They lived in Spain for many years. Upon John's death, she returned to her ranch at North Fork.
Gayle's parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her three sons, three grandchildren and a brother, Derold (Madge) Slavin of Carmen.
