James Heckathorn Obituary
December 3, 1914 - August 10, 2014
James C. Heckathorn (Jim) passed away August 10, 2014, at 99 years of age, at home surrounded by his family. He was preceded by his wife Bernice, his brothers and sisters, and one grandchild. He is survived by his children Cliff (Margaret), Leroy (Barbara), Diana, Harmon (Sharon), and Rick. He had five children, 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Jim was the 7th of 11 children, born December 3, 1914 in Decatur, Iowa to Elmer and Clarinda Heckathorn. He married the love of his life, Bernice Turner, on April 5, 1941. Jim logged for Brown's Tie and Lumber for 29 years. He was also a state fruit and potato inspector. After retirement he opened Jim's Rock and Gem Shop in Lakefork. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. The love that he shared with anyone who entered his life was amazing and upholding. Services were at Heikkila Funeral Chapel in McCall on Wednesday, August 13. A memorial service is being planned for 23 Aug. 2014 at 2:00 pm for friends and family. It will be held at Church of the Brethren, 11030 Orchard Ave. in Nampa.

It is hard to believe that six years have gone by since Jim left us. But he left us good memories of those reunions over the years. Best wishes to his family members and they are always welcome in Idaho Falls.

We are sorry at your passing. You have done much in your long life, your family reunions and your family posterity. It was a pleasure to know and your wife and I hope we can share reunions in the future.
