Jimmy Whitcomb Obituary
He was born on April 25th, 1945 in Spokane, Washington to George and Margaret De Voe Whitcomb, the second of five children. He attended St. Francis Of Assisi Elementary School for eight years in Spokane and graduated from Bishop White Seminary in 1963. He attended Gonzaga University and Community College in Spokane. In 1966, he enlisted in the USAF where he served as an Aircraft Structural Repairman. He served one year in Vietnam. After being discharged from the service, he spent the rest of his life in Idaho working for Cal Gas, Rain for Rent and 21 years with Firestone. He owned his own mechanic shop until his retirement.
He married Deanna Tally on August 1st, 1975. Jim adopted her two girls Tami and Angie and raised them as his own, being a wonderful father to both of them.
He won a trip to the Daytona 500 and became a Nascar fan for life; his driver number was #24.
Jim came to know the lord at the age of 70 and attended Fairview Church of the Nazarene. He would encourage everyone of his friends and family to accept Christ as their own Savior.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Deanna, and daughter Angela Diane (Dave) Zuwerink. His sister Eileen (Butch) Wolfe, brothers Bob (Chong), Gary (Maureen) and Tony.
To complete our family we have been blessed with Loriston and Lisa Ford and they have blessed us with our grandchildren Ryan (Monica) Rathbun, Kayla (Tony) De La Torre, Torren and Lorissa Ford and two great granddaughters Tulisa and Kaylie De La Torre. He was preceded in death by daughter Tami Ellen Gray and both his parents.
Service will be held at Fairview Church of the Nazarene in Nampa Idaho on August 26th, at 2:00pm. A memorial will be held at a later date at the Cambridge Cemetery, in Cambridge, Idaho.

I worked with Jim at the Nampa Firestone back in the late 60's (now Flying M). We had a lot of fun taking trips out to Murphy in his Blazer to do some 4 wheeling and plinking with our 22's. Jim was a warm and friendly guy and I've thought about him many times over the years wondering what he was up to. Rest in peace my friend.
