Joe Campbell Obituary

Joe Dale Campbell, 62, of Caldwell, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at a Boise hospital of natural causes. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Inurnment will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
Today I lost my soul mate, my best friend, my confidante, and my helpmate. I will always cherish the years we had together, good times and bad. I will always love you with all my heart and soul – till we meet again, I love you!
Joe was born Feb. 27, 1948 in Nampa, Idaho, a son of Levi and Marjorie (Lindauer) Campbell. He was raised in this area and graduated from Middleton High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970, he served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged as a SPC. He married Bonnie, his soul mate, in 1973. His hobby was playing horseshoes. He was a member of the National Horse Shoe Pitchers Association for 11 years and local director for the Caldwell Horse Shoe League for many years. He worked for Hoffman Sheet Metal for 35 years and for Carlon Sheet Metal for 3 1/2 years. Joe was very much a people person, he enjoyed being around and with people.
He passed away doing what he did best, which was working on HVAC systems.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to his boss, Johnny Frank and to the St. Alphonsus' ER and ICU doctors and nurses, and Ken the night nurse, for his compassion and understanding.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie of 38 years, his mother Marjorie Campbell of Caldwell; brothers, Ed Campbell of Emmett; and Tom and Dana Campbell of Oregon; a sister, Betty and Gary Wangsgard of Caldwell; a brother-in-law, Raymond Porta of Washington and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Condolences may be given at www.flahifffuneralchapels.com.

Bonnie,
I am deeply saddened by your loss. I didn't know Joe, but based on what I have read from you and others who knew him, he was a stand up guy, and I know that you will miss him profoundly. Please know that our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Joe and I first met last spring shortly after my move to Caldwell. My brother, a long time Caldwell resident, recommended Joe to me as the most competent and honest HVAC Contractor that he knew. Joe came over and serviced/adjusted my air conditioner. We became instant friends! Upon noticing a couple of horseshoe stakes in my backyard, Joe picked up one of my horseshoes and proceeded to throw a "ringer". He then invited me over to his place and presented me "regulation stakes" and "official rules". I was looking forward to a long term friendship (and some horseshoe lessons). Joe's untimely death has left me shocked and greatly saddened. Bonnie, you have my very deep sympathies and sincere condolences. Joe will be missed!

Bonnie,
It is of great sadness and shock to hear of the loss of Joe!
Linda and I owned the fourplex next to the horse shoe pits at
the Caldwell Park. We met Joe when we first purchased these units. Naturally, Joe maintained the heating systems of this building for 30+/- years, until we sold.
I just talked to him the other day, finding him jovial as always.
Joe was a great asset to his community, profession and hobby.
His had great integrity and he always had time for a good chat.
He was a gentle man in all aspects.
May the good Lord ease your grief and watch over you and your family during the coming days.
