Larry Sander Obituary

Larry Dennis Sander
June 17, 1945 - October 27, 2016
Larry Dennis Sander passed away October 27th, 2016 at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation in Nampa, Idaho surrounded by his loving daughter Danielle Sisayaket, close friend Merle Ann, and caregiver Debbie. He was born June 17, 1945 in Grants Pass, Oregon. He was Baby Chapin until Leroy D Sander and Marian Miller Sander adopted him shortly after his birth.
Larry grew up on a farm in Medford, Oregon. He worked on the farm and enjoyed riding his horse Chubby up into the foothills. Larry was a talented athlete. He played football, basketball, and baseball. Larry had a love for cars and had owned a 1957 Chevy Convertible and several corvettes. He was gifted an amazing voice and would karaoke frequently.
Larry attended Medford Senior High and graduated in 1963. He attended BYU from 1963 to 1968 and received a Bachelors degree in Zoology and Chemistry, a minor in Physics and Communication, and graduated with honors. Larry went on to attend the University of Texas from 1968-1969 and received a Masters degree in Bio-Chemistry. He returned to BYU for a year and became a Bio Chemical and Physiological graduate. From 1971-1973, Larry attended the University of Nevada and received a Masters degree in Medical Science.
Larry worked throughout college in the construction industry and at a boat fiberglass shop. After he left the medical industry, construction was his calling. He owned a house moving and building business in Medford, Oregon until he changed career fields. Larry and his daughter Danielle moved to Solomon Islands, Maryland where he worked for a commercial security company in Baltimore, Maryland. He later worked for various construction companies in New Mexico, Texas, and Idaho.
Throughout life, Larry loved fishing on the Pacific Ocean, deer and elk hunting in the Oregon mountains, hanging out at the Road Runner Café in Central Point, Oregon, coaching his daughter's softball team, sketching house plans, road trips, teaching his son in law and others how to frame structures, corvette car shows, boat shows, helping those in need, defending those who could not defend themselves, and telling stories to everyone. Once you met Larry, you never forgot him.
Larry Dennis Sander was preceded in death by his adoring mother Marian Miller Sander, his father Leroy Sander, their siblings, and parents. He is survived by his brothers Leonard Sander of Medford, Oregon and Charles Sander and his wife Renee Sander of Hamilton, Virginia; Children: a son, whereabouts unknown; Jolene Young of Plano, Texas; Danielle Sisayaket and husband Bounthavy Sisayaket of Meridian, Idaho; Darcelle Sander and husband Adam Marlett of Eagle, Idaho; and 7 grandchildren.
Larry gifted his body for science to help the living for education and new discoveries. His ashes will be spread on the ocean shore in Brookings, Oregon and his favorite deer and elk hunting spots.
