Leslie Gene Harrell, 59, Caldwell died at home on March 1, 2017. Les was born December 25, 1957, in La Grande, Oregon to David Lee Harrell and Donna Gaye Sagers Harrell. Les graduated from Caldwell High School in 1977 and left later that year to join the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Recruit Training Command on August 12, 1977 in San Diego, CA. His last assignment ended June 1981 serving on the USS Rogers and USS Reeves. He later joined the Idaho Army National Guard serving in the 129th Engr. Co, 116th Engr. Bn and on Gowen Field and the Orchard Training Area for several years. Les had a passion for helping veterans and joined the Carrie L. French Chapter 1 Disabled American Veterans in Caldwell serving as Service Officer. He was well known for being able to talk to anyone and there wasn't anyone that he didn't know. He worked at Hoff Building Supply which later changed to Franklin Building Supply. He loved talking to people and had a big heart for helping anyone in need. Les had a true love for Caldwell and all the people that live here, but he would never miss an opportunity to head out to the Owyhees or the Council Mountains. He loved the outdoors and spent every year hunting elk and deer with his family and dear friend Fred Greer. Les loved being with family, helping to plan as many opportunities as possible to get together. He was a loving father and is survived by his daughter Sabrina, sons David and Colt and grandsons Jahsper, Zehryek and his cat Biscuits. His mother Donna, sister Joanie, brother Terry and his wife Trina and brother Charles, numerous nephews, nieces, great and great-great-nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father David Lee Harrell.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 pm., Monday, March 6, 2017 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell, Idaho with inurnment at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Condolences may be given at www.Flahifffuneralchapel.com.
