Margy was born in Nampa, Idaho on September 28, 1934 to Lura and Russell Hooker. She grew up two doors down from the old Kenwood Elementary School on 13th Avenue. She attended school at Kenwood, Central Junior High, and Nampa High School. She graduated from Nampa High in 1952. Margy was a dancer from the time she was two years old until her high school graduation. By high school, she was teaching her own dance classes. The love Margy had for dance continues to live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

In the fall of 1952, Margy married her sweetheart Neal Arthur Newby on September 15, and they started their 68 years together. Theirs was a partnership of love that deepened year after year. Margy's primary goal in life was to be a wife and mother and she succeeded at both. Neal and her four children and later her grandchildren were the focus of her entire adult life. Her world was spending time with them and exploring their worlds.

Margy was a humble, unassuming woman who was totally content with life's simple pleasures. She made few demands outside of asking her adult kids and grandkids to please come back soon. She didn't desire to be center stage, but she loved to support and help others succeed on their life's challenges. She was a great cook of simple foods. She was content with life and slow to anger (except if you crossed her children, then she could be a very tough mamma bear). She always had cookies (especially snickerdoodles) at the ready. She did not need fancy restaurants, but she was excited any time someone suggested going for a breakfast sausage biscuit at McDonald's or a Crisp Chicken Burrito at Taco Time. She loved sitting on the patio listening to her friends and family talk about their lives. She found great joy in flowers, playing bridge, anything chocolate, football and basketball games, maple bars, being in the mountains at the cabin, and making Hooker toast (burned). She consistently found ways to help others discover happiness. Even though she battled dementia, she never forgot those closest to her.

Margy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the 11th Ward in the Nampa West Stake. She served as the Ward Librarian for many years.

Margy is survived by her husband Neal; her children, and their spouses: Gayle Trask (Rob), Tim Newby (Deedra), Lori Bunderson (Bryant), and Van Newby (Bethanie); and her 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Eileen Robinson (Earl) and Anita Flora (Calvin); and her brother Vernon Hooker (Carol, who survives).

The family wishes to thank Margy's co-workers at the Nampa water and payroll departments where she worked for years. We appreciate your kindness and friendship you showed to her. She truly found joy in working with all of you. Finally, we also wish to thank Carry, Liz and all the care givers at Family Life for their kind help and assistance in the care of Margy during her final days.
