Patsy Emmert Obituary

Patsy Derrel "Pat" Emmert
January 16, 1932 - May 30, 2014
Patsy Derrel "Pat" Emmert, 82, peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2014, at home, surrounded by her family. Pat was born on January 16, 1932 to Verna and Harry Reininger in Taloga, OK. At age 5, Pat's parents moved her and her brother, Mickey, to Nampa, ID where they lived in a tent for the first few days, eventually settling in a home on Happy Valley Road. Pat attended Bennett Elementary, Happy Valley Middle School, and graduated from Nampa High School in 1950. She married Jim Emmert on February 22, 1955 at Bowmont Church of the Brethren, sharing their life together for 57 years before Jim's passing on July 5, 2013. Jim and Pat lived on Bennett Road in Nampa, farming the land, and being blessed with four children to fill their happy home. After 10 years, they purchased their first farm located on Southside Blvd in Nampa, where they lived a full life, farming and raising kids till death. Some of Pat's greatest joys were spending time with her 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She enjoyed canning the fresh vegetables she grew in her beautiful garden and cooking, especially showering the family with amazing feasts on the holidays. She also loved fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time at their cabin in Cascade. Pat was a member of Bowmont Church of the Brethren for many years, followed by becoming a member of Greenhurst Bible Church. Her passion was teaching Sunday school and bringing young children to know Christ, she was a witness for the Lord wherever she went and in whatever she was doing. Pat was a member of Bible Study Fellowship in Caldwell for 18 years attending class as well as caring for the leader's children. Pat worked for the United States Post Office in Nampa for 25 years as a mail carrier, was a Canyon County 4-H Leader for 10 years, held various offices with the Bowmont Grange, and was a member of the County Line Women's Extension Club. Thank you Mom for sharing your strong faith in Christ with each of us, you truly are a woman after God's own heart and for that, we are ever so grateful. Your walk with Christ and the many prayers you have prayed for us have quietly helped each of us through tough times as well as good times. You are a tower of strength and courage, yet gentle and kind in every way. You have the heart of a servant, always giving to those less fortunate, we know when Jesus welcomes you into Heaven, you will definitely hear "well done good and faithful servant." You have and will remain in our hearts as the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Thank you for the laughter and joy your presence brought to this family, you truly stand for what "family" really means. We love you and will miss you greatly. Pat was preceded in death by her husband James L. "Jim" Emmert; parents Verna and Harry Reininger; brother Mickey Reininger; two grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Post. Surviving are son Rick (Kathy) Emmert of Walla Walla, WA; daughter Jolyn (Royce) Post of Nampa; son Chris (Beverly) Emmert of Nampa; daughter Kay Gulick of Fruitland; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Pat was in my Bible Study Fellowship class for seven of those years in BSF. I'll remember her with that ever present smile and her ability to tell the class what she gleaned from that weeks lesson. Her love for our Lord could be seen all over her face and throughout her conversations. She was ---IS--- a lovely lady and I am looking forward to seeing her again. Vi Ward Nampa/Cascade
